Use

In the BEx Web runtime (Java), you can display content from BI, such as documents or links, using the following options in Knowledge Management (KM) and then use the content with the KM functions.

...

       1.      You can use BI Document Repository Manager to access documents that are physically stored on the BI server in the SKWF framework.

These documents can be created using Data Warehousing Workbench or in Web applications. For more information about displaying, creating, and changing documents in Web applications, see Using Documents in Web Applications.

       2.      Using BI Metadata Repository Manager, which enables you to access automatically generated HTML-based documentation for metadata. Unlike manually created documentation for metadata, the HTML-based documentation for BI metadata is still generated automatically from the Metadata Repository, as required. BI Metadata Repository Manager is available on the portal as of SAP NetWeaver 2004 (with SAP BW 3.5).

You can also store BEx Web applications or queries as documents or links in Knowledge Management by using BEx Broadcaster. More information: Functions in BEx Broadcaster

In both cases, documents or links are created in Knowledge Management. These documents display content from BI and can be used to display and use Knowledge Management functions.

       3.      By storing documents in a CM repository configured especially for BI that is used exclusively for BI documents. This storage improves performance and allows documents for master data and InfoProvider data to be assigned on hierarchy-node level (as well as on characteristic-value level). Existing back-end documents can be transferred to the CM repository by the migration.

Caution Migrated documents are not available in BEx Analyzer. Only migrate documents if you do not use BEx Analyzer or do not use it in connection with documents.

To specify where BI documents are to be stored on the portal, see the SAP Reference IMG SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence Settings for Reporting and Analysis BEx Web Integration into the Portal Create BI System in Portal.

       4.      To display documents of type Text, you can use the BI Content Filter. If you select this repository filter for a repository, the BI documents (of type Text) in the repository are adjusted to the size of the window in the browser so that horizontal scrolling is not necessary.

       5.      To create the BI Content Filter for a repository, choose System Administration System Configuration Knowledge Management Content Management Repository Filters BI Content Filter. Set the filter flag and select the repository that want to set the filter for. Restart the portal server.

Features

Displaying Individual Documents as iViews

You can display the documents individually as iViews. To display documents as iViews, an iView of type KM Document iView with the code link com.sap.km.cm.docs is required. You have to specify the most important property, Path to Document or Link in KM. Using the KM Content iView from the Content Administration portal role, you can determine the corresponding path to documents from the BI Document Repository Manager and BI Metadata Repository Manager and to precalculated documents or links from BEx Broadcaster. The corresponding prefixes <BI_DOCUMENT_PREFIX> and <BI_META_DATA_PREFIX> must be included in the path to documents from BI Document Repository Manager and BI Metadata Repository Manager.

More information: iView Properties.

For more information about the configuration of the BI Document Repository Manager and the BI Metadata Repository Manager, see the SAP Reference IMG SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence Settings for Reporting and Analysis BEx Web Integration into Portal Set Up BI Document Repository Manager and BI Metadata Repository Manager in the Portal. The prefixes <BI_DOCUMENT_PREFIX> and <BI_META_DATA_PREFIX> are also specified in the configuration for the repository managers.

Displaying Multiple Documents in KM Folders

Multiple documents can be displayed at the same time in a KM folder. To do this, you need to create internal links to the corresponding BI documents in the KM folder of your choice. For example, you can add additional links to BI documents or the corresponding documentation for BI metadata to a KM folder where you have stored precalculated documents and links from BEx Web applications using BEx Broadcaster.

A KM folder is displayed using a KM Navigation iView with the code link com.sap.km.cm.navigation. For more information about the most important properties, see Calling with KM Folders.

The KM folders can be displayed in different layouts. The Layout Settings property specifies which layout is displayed. For more information, see Calling with the BEx Portfolio.

For more information about creating links in Knowledge Management to documents from BI Document Repository Manager and BI Metadata Repository Manager, see Integration Using KM Content.
