Use

BEx Report Designer is the BI suite’s reporting tool. It is used to create reports optimized for presentation and printing.

Integration

Report Designer can be called as follows:

      As a standalone desktop application.

      From the context menu or the Report Design (REPORT) parameter in Web item Report in Web Application Designer.

Features

In addition to the menu bar and application toolbar, BEx Report Designer also has five screen areas:

      Design Area

The most important area of Report Designer is the design area, where you design and format your report. The report is displayed schematically.

A report normally has the following elements:

       Page header

       Report body

       Page footer

If they are set, the page header and footer (are repeated on every page of the report.

The report body contains static and/or dynamic sections. More information: Static and Dynamic Sections in Reports.

The design area context menu provides various functions that can be used when designing reports.

      Field Catalog

The field catalog lists all query fields and text elements for a query or query view, as well as any free texts created by the user. More information: Field Catalog.

      Report Structure

The report structure displays the report with the associated group levels and row patterns. More information: Report Structure.

      Format Catalog

The format catalog provides an overview of the formats used in the report. More information: Format Catalog.

      Properties

In the properties area, you set the properties of the individual report elements (rows or cells). This allows you to set the format and position of text fields. More information: Properties
