Function documentationCalculation of Metrics

The system calculates metrics to which you assigned a key figure definition in Customizing (see Metric). You cannot enter these values manually.

Integration

The system evaluates the data of the initiative or portfolio item by means of the report you specified in the key figure definition. The result and the threshold values of the key figure definition determine the status (see Display Status and Trend).

Prerequisites

You have set up Customizing for the following:

  • Key Figure Monitor under Start of the navigation path SAP Portfolio and Project Management Next navigation step Portfolio Management Next navigation step Global Customizing Next navigation step Process and Service Settings End of the navigation path

  • Metrics Management under Start of the navigation path SAP Portfolio and Project Management Next navigation step Common Functions End of the navigation path

Features

  • In the key figure definition, you have the option of controlling the calculation of metrics by means of reports: You can use the reports provided by SAP or adjust them to meet your requirements.

Changes made to the data of the initiative or portfolio item are updated in Metrics Management as soon as you save. The system recalculates the metrics based on the reports.

  • If you defined dependencies between metrics to be entered manually and calculated metrics in your reports, no internal recalculation is triggered in Metrics Management. If you choose Recalculate, the system calculates the metrics values for each metrics group again.

    Example Example

You change the electricity consumption of an initiative. In the key figure report of the electricity costs key figure, you have defined that the actual costs are calculated from the electricity consumption and the price per KWH.

The system automatically adjusts the electricity consumption metric in Metrics Management. You have to choose Recalculate to adjust the electricity costs metric.

    End of the example.
