 Metric

Definition

A user-specific key figure for which you can define different metrics value types, such as planned , actual , or target . Metrics can be entered manually or calculated by the system.

Use

A metric is used as a measure without unit for a property, for example, in project charters, portfolio items, and initiatives, to define key figures that, for example, show the financial situation or the progress of a project charter or initiative.

Metrics can be quantities, currencies, floating-point values, or dates that were entered manually. You can also allow the system to calculate metrics from key figures of the object in question - portfolio item or initiative . To calculate metrics, you must have assigned a key figure definition to a metric in Customizing for Metrics Management .

Example

Examples of metrics are launch costs, probability of commercial success, net present value, actual financial figures, and so on.
