Here you get an overview of all existing decision points and the associated phases or WBS elements for those decision points (if there are any) as well as relevant key data for a particular item, initiative, item template, or initiative template.

The object header displays information related to the selected item, initiative, item template, or initiative template under which the Phases and Decisions dashboard is displayed. For more information, see Object Header.

Prerequisites

If you want to display the phases, you must have done the following settings:

  • You have configured the standard portfolio management navigation in Customizing for SAP Portfolio and Project Management under Start of the navigation path Portfolio Management Next navigation step Global Customizing Next navigation step Process and Service Settings Next navigation step Define Navigation End of the navigation path.

  • For the decision points, you have linked the item types and the initiative types to the decision points and you have set the start status and the end status for every decision point in Customizing for SAP Portfolio and Project Management underSAP Portfolio and Project Management under Start of the navigation path Portfolio Management Next navigation step Global Customizing Next navigation step Portfolio-Independent Settings Next navigation step Define Portfolio Item Types End of the navigation path or Start of the navigation path Define Initiative Types End of the navigation path

  • If you are using items based on item types, you have mapped decision points to phases in Customizing for SAP Portfolio and Project Management, by choosing Start of the navigation path Portfolio Management Next navigation step Global Customizing Next navigation step Portfolio Independent Settings Next navigation step Map Item Type to Project or PS End of the navigation path.

  • If you are using items based on item templates, you have mapped item template decision points to phases in Customizing for SAP Portfolio and Project Management, by choosing Start of the navigation path Portfolio Management Next navigation step Global Customizing Next navigation step Portfolio Independent Settings Next navigation step Map Item Template to Project Template or PS Project End of the navigation path.

  • If you want to use network activities, you must have switched on the switch Start of the navigation path 0002 Master Switch Next navigation step 0008 Enhanced Capital and Resource Mgmt Switch (see SAP Note 1457426) End of the navigation path in Customizing for SAP Portfolio and Project Management under Start of the navigation path Portfolio Management Next navigation step Global Customizing Next navigation step Global Settings Next navigation step Override Default Global Settings End of the navigation path.

Features

On this screen, you can do the following:

  • If you click View Schedule Chart, the system shows the graphical timeline display of all the decision points.

  • The names of all the decision points, appear as links in the Decision Point Name column. When you click a decision point, the system displays the corresponding decision point details.

  • For an initiative and initiative template, the phase-related columns are always visible with data filled.

  • For an item and item template, the phase-related columns are only visible if they have an underlying Project Management project associated to the item or item template. Similarly, the WBS element related columns are visible only if a Project System project is associated to the item or item template. Even if they are visible, these columns are empty for all the decision points that are not linked to any phase or WBS element.

  • To display the details, you can choose a phase name, or WBS element name. You can display the details of a network activity if you have switched on the switch Start of the navigation path 0002 Master Switch Next navigation step 0008 Enhanced Capital and Resource Mgmt Switch (see SAP Note 1457426) End of the navigation path.

  • You can see if the decision point is assigned to multiple objects, such as phases, WBS elements, or network activities. The system displays the objects in the respective column (if you have switched on the switch Start of the navigation path 0002 Master Switch Next navigation step 0008 Enhanced Capital and Resource Mgmt Switch (see SAP Note 1457426) End of the navigation path.

Moreover, you can find the following information in the Phases and Decisions dashboard:

Field

Explanation

Phase Name

Alphanumeric field. Visible if a Project Management project is assigned to the item.

Phase Type Text

Indicates the type of phase.

System Status

Indicates the current status of the phase.

Decision Point Name

Name of the decision point.

Status

Indicates the current status of the decision point. As the project progresses, you can update this field by selecting appropriate status in the decision point overview.

Delay Indicator

Indicates the delay of the decision point.

Planned Start

The planned start date of the decision point. Enter the planned start for this decision point manually, or use the date picker to select the date in decision point overview. For more information, see Date Picker

Planned Finish

The planned finish date of the decision point. Enter the planned finish of this decision point manually, or use the date picker to select the date in decision point overview.

Planned Duration

Planned duration of the decision point based on its planned start and planned finish.

WBS Element

The ID of the WBS element linked to the decision point. Visible if a Project System project is assigned to the item.

WBS Element Name

The name of the WBS element linked to the decision point. Visible if a Project System project is assigned to the item.

Network Activity

The ID of the network activity linked to the decision point. Visible if a Project System project is assigned to the item and if you have switched on the switch Start of the navigation path 0002 Master Switch Next navigation step 0008 Enhanced Capital and Resource Mgmt Switch (see SAP Note 1457426) End of the navigation path.

In addition, you can add other fields to the Phases and Decisions dashboard by choosing Personalize.
