Maintenance of Engineering Change Numbers You can use the features of this function to process engineering change numbers (ECN) as part of the engineering change collaboration process.
From the ECN overview, you can perform the following activities:
Assign a status profile
Revoke the status profile assignment
Change the status of the ECN
The system then executes status actions or status transition actions according to the assigned status profile.
View and branch to any discussions that exist
Define notifications
Set authorizations
You can assign administration, read, or write authorization for the object to a user, a user group, a role or an organization. You can also assign authorization at field group level. However, note that authorization give to the object or to a field group by a status profile has higher priority than the authorization that you set here. For more information, see Object Authorizations per Status .
We deliver the following BAdI implementations for user-defined actions for ECN status transitions:
CFX_ECN_ LOCK
This implementation locks an engineering change number (ECN) and prevents it from being edited.
CFX_ECN_STATUS_TRANS
This implementation releases and creates a new version of objects attached to an ECN.
CFX_ECN_UNLOCK
This implementation unlocks an engineering change number (ECN) and allows it to be edited.
CFX_ LOCK _ATT_OBJS
This implementation locks objects attached to an ECN. However, the ECN itself can still be edited.
CFX_UNLOCK_ATT_OBJS
This implementation unlocks objects attached to an ECN and allows them to be edited.

General functions
From the ECN version overview, you can perform the following activities:
Change the ECN
Export the ECN as a PDX package
Assign a document
Link a bill of material (BOM), a document, a material, or a manufacturer part number (MPN)
The system creates a new version of the object being linked.
An ECN behaves like a generic object. For more information, see Generic Object .
