  • For local monitoring, choose   SOA Management   Monitoring   PI Message Monitoring   in your local SAP NetWeaver Administrator.

You can use message monitoring locally either to monitor local Web service messaging or the message processing of a local Adapter Engine.

Procedure

Message overview gives you an overview of message processing, as well as two different modes for searching for messages.

The message overview is available at many levels, from the entire system landscape through to the individual components.

The message search is only available at component level. On both search modes you can search for messages that were either persisted in the database, or for messages that have already been archived. You can restrict the number of messages displayed.

  • To obtain an overview of the current status of message processing, select the required level (node in navigation area) followed by the Message Overview tab.

The message overview gives you the number of messages that are in a particular processing status in a specified time period.

More information: Displaying the Message Overview.

    Note Note

Message Overview is not available in local message monitoring.

    End of the note.
  • If you want to search for persisted messages, select the required component followed by the Database tab page.

  • If you want to search for archived messages, select the required component followed by the Archive tab page.

More information on archiving and reading archived messages: Archiving and Deleting.

Searching in Standard Mode

In standard mode, you can use a particular message status or status group to search for messages that were processed within a particular time period. The search looks for messages that were persisted in the database.

  2. Select the required tab page (Database or Archive).

  3. Select whether to search by status or status group, and then select the required message status or status group.

  4. Select the required time period that the search is to cover.

  5. Start your search.

Searching in Advanced Mode

In advanced mode, you can use different selection types with different selection criteria to search for messages. You can search for messages that were either persisted in the database, or already archived.

More information: Selection Types for Advanced Message Search

  1. To navigate to advanced mode, choose Advanced in the standard mode.

  2. Select the required selection type and enter your selection criteria.

You can reset selected or entered values.

  3. Start your search.

Result

The system lists the selected messages along with their attributes in a table. The information that is actually displayed depends on the component that the message is in.

You can update the table and export it as a file. You can select individual messages and perform further activities:

  • You can end or resend the message.

  • You can display the details (attributes with their values) of the message.

  • You can display the content of the message. Here you can select in a message tree the different areas of SOAP header, SOAP body, and payload to display them individually.

  • You can display the audit protocol (if available) of the message.

  • You can display the user-defined message attributes (if available) that were defined for the user-defined message search.

More information: Attributes for User-Defined Message Search.

  • You can open the message to display the versions of the message that are available. In the version view you can end, edit, or resend individual versions. You can display the details (attributes with their values) of a message version.

    More information: Editing Messages.

  • Depending on what sort of component and message you have selected, you can then navigate to the following:

    For Web service messages:

    For XI messages:

  • You can also display the trace files (if available) for the selected message.
