Caution Caution

SAP NetWeaver Administrator for PI and all monitoring tools it includes are not supported for use in production scenarios. We recommend to use Runtime Workbench for PI monitoring in production scenarios. The information provided below is only for reference.

For more information, see SAP notes 1446507 and 1247043.

End of the caution.

Use the message overview to get an overview of the number of messages that are in a certain processing status in a specific time period. This time period always refers to the receipt of the message.

Note Note

In contrast to message search, only messages processed asynchronously are considered in the message overview.

End of the note.

These are the various status groups:

  • Scheduled

  • Succeeded

  • With Errors

  • Canceled with Errors

If you do not want to use the message overview you can deactivate it. For further information see SAP Note 1031773.

Prerequisites

You are in the Monitoring Messages of SAP NetWeaver Administrator and have selected the Message Status Overview tab page. This tab page is available at all navigation levels.

Procedure

Select the time period you require and start the search.

Result

Displays the number of messages that were in the status groups described above in the chosen time period.

Cross-Component Display

The display is in a table, which is ordered according to a combination of sender and receiver attributes in the header data of the messages found. You can either hide or display the individual sender and receiver attributes (table columns) and thereby determine the order within the table.

Note Note

Includes the cross-component message overview of both the Integration Engine and the Adapter Engine and is displayed in two separate tables.

End of the note.
  • If the current status permits it, you can either retry or cancel the processing of messages from the table. To do this, select the relevant table row(s) followed by either Retry or Cancel.

  • If you want to display the components that were involved in messages for a specific table row, select the relevant row. A tree is displayed showing all the components involved.

If you click on the message number in a specific component and status group, you are then taken to the message monitoring of this component. A list of the related messages is displayed, including the underlying filter settings.

Component-Specific Display

The display is in a table, which is ordered according to a combination of sender and receiver attributes in the header data of the messages found.

  • If you want to display the sender and receiver attributes of a row combined together, select the row followed by the Attributes tab page.

  • If you want to drill down to the individual statuses for the number of messages in a row, select the row and then choose the Status Values tab page.

A table with the status group, a description of the individual status, and the number of messages is displayed.

If permitted by the relevant status, you can Cancel or Retry all messages in that particular status.

  • To display the messages in a particular status group, click the message number in the required group and line.

The system navigates to message monitoring; a list of the corresponding messages is displayed, including all underlying filter settings.

Depending on the status, you can either retry or cancel individual messages here.
