After creating an object list, you may want to reduce its scope. You can do this by creating a new object list and selecting parts of one or more object lists as its content.

Example Example

You have created an object list for all objects in Customizing and Workbench requests called ABCK* with status released. You now want to reduce the scope of this object list so that it only contains objects of specific object types and specific collections, as these objects have higher translation priority. You then intend to evaluate this reduced object list, to create worklists and statistics for only the high-priority objects.

Prerequisites

  • You first need to create the object list that you want to edit.

    For more information, see Creating Object Lists.

  • Your translator profile must contain authorization object OBJL with the value 01.

Procedure

  1. Call up transaction LXE_MASTER.

  2. On the Evaluations tab page, choose Object Lists.

    The Object Lists dialog box appears. All existing object lists are displayed in this dialog box.

  3. Choose Create (Create).

  4. Enter a description of the object list in the Description field (for example, Only objects from collections /ABC* and object groups A5) and save your entry.

    The Parameters dialog box appears.

  5. To renew the domain assignment, switch on the checkbox Renew Domain Assignment. We recommend that you do this each time that you create an object list.

  6. Under Object List Merge, choose the No Entries pushbutton next to Object Lists.

  7. Double-click the object list(s) whose objects you want to be included in your new object list and choose Execute (Execute).

    This takes you back to the Parameters dialog box. The number of selected object lists is displayed on the pushbutton next to Object Lists.

  8. Under Object List Merge, choose the No Entries pushbutton next to Object Types.

    A dialog box appears, listing the object types available in this system.

  9. Double-click the object types of the objects that you still want included in your new object list. To select all object types, simply double-click the top node of the hierarchy.

  10. Choose Execute (Execute).

    This takes you back to the Parameters dialog box. The number of selected object types is displayed on the pushbutton next to Object Types.

  11. Under Object List Merge, choose the No Entries pushbutton next to Collections.

  12. Select the collections of the objects that you still want included in your new object list. For more information on how to select collections in this dialog box, see Selecting Collections. To select all collections, simply choose Choose next to Total.

  13. Choose Continue.

    This takes you back to the Parameters dialog box. The number of selected collections is displayed on the pushbutton next to Collections.

  14. You can also reduce the scope of the object lists(s) you selected according to object name by entering a generic string in the Object Name field. Otherwise, leave a * in this field.

    Example Example

    You have used strict naming conventions and now want to reduce the object list so that it only contains objects whose names start with the string /ZFIN. In this case, you would enter ZFIN* in the Object Name field.

  15. Choose Save (Save)

    You return to the Object Lists dialog box.

  16. Select your object list and choose Activate.

  17. Schedule the object list creation job to run in the background.

Result

The system creates a new object list that contains all the objects that match all of the following criteria:

  • Are available in the object list(s) that you selected as the basis for editing in step 7 above

  • Are of one of the object types you defined in step 9

  • Belong to one of the collections you defined in step 12

  • Have the generic text string in their text name that you defined in step 14

You can now use this object list for the following purposes:
