Note Note

The configuration task described is necessary only if you want to use the file search with authorization checks. For more information, see Authorization Checking for File Search.

End of the note.

You can connect SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search to a central LDAP directory in the customer landscape. To use the user data in the customer’s LDAP directory in SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search, you must map the SAP data fields to attributes of the LDAP directory service that contain the data that they both use.

Note Note

Different directory services also use different schemas for storing the data, therefore, you must determine which SAP data fields correspond to which directory attributes. This does not necessarily result in a unique assignment, one field can have more than one attribute assigned.

End of the note.

Prerequisites

  • SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search must be connected to an LDAP server containing all the users who should be able to use and administrate SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search.

  • The users stored in the LDAP system must have an attribute that contains the SAP user name in uppercase letters.

  • All relevant file servers must be connected to this domain or to a fully-trusted domain controller.

  • During the installation, you must have configured LDAP for use with SAP software.

Procedure

Synchronizing the AS ABAP User Store and LDAP (LDAP Sync)
  1. Configure and maintain the information required for the use of the LDAP Connector as described in Configuring the Directory Service.

  2. Map the SAP data fields to directory attributes as described in Mapping the SAP Data Fields to Directory Attributes.

  3. Synchronize the ABAP user store and LDAP directory as described in Synchronizing the ABAP User Store and the LDAP Directory.
