The process desk task execution user interface (task execution UI) enables you to hand over full responsibility for task execution and completion to another user. You can delegate your task to any user except for excluded owners of the task.

Procedure

Delegating a Task
  1. In the Universal Worklist (UWL), click the task (Subject) you want to delegate.

The task execution UI is displayed.

  2. From the Actions menu, choose Delegate.

  3. In the Delegate dialog box, enter the name of the user you want to delegate the individual task to.

You can also enter some of the letters of the user name, for example, the first name of the user, then choose Select. The Select dialog box is displayed. In the results list, you can select the user that is required, or start another search by changing the entry in the Find field. After you have selected the user you want to nominate as a delegate, choose Go. The selected user is automatically entered in the Delegate dialog box in the To field.

  4. Optionally, you can write a note to the user you delegate the task to.

  5. In the Delegate dialog box, choose OK.

The task is delegated to the user specified.

Once you have delegated a task, you cannot complete this task anymore. The delegate is now the owner of the task. Only this individual task is delegated to the user nominated as the delegate. If you want to make a colleague a substitute to all your tasks, you need to nominate the colleague as a substitute. You specify the substitution settings in the UWL.

For more information about substitution, see Using or Accepting Substitution.
