Adding and Editing Content in Workcenter RolesLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

The Workcenter Role editor assists you in creating content for the role, starting from the Overview secondary navigation entry (tab). For each secondary navigation entry, you create its detailed navigation entries along with all related services. Finally, you create the Service Map .

This section provides an overview of the different parts of the Workcenter Role editor, and it describes the overall procedure for creating workcenter role content.

Procedure

Adding Content

  1. In the Portal Catalog, in the context menu of the workcenter role, choose Start of the navigation path Open Next navigation step Role End of the navigation path. The Workcenter Role editor appears. A graphic representation of the role layout is displayed in the content area (if any content already exists).

  2. Define the first detailed navigation entry for the Overview (the first secondary navigation entry) in one of two ways:

    1. Create a new iView by choosing Start of the navigation path New Next navigation step Detailed Navigation Entry Next navigation step iView from Remote Source End of the navigation path to upload an existing iView from a back-end system (see Creating iViews from Remote Sources ) or Start of the navigation path New Next navigation step Detailed Navigation Entry  Next navigation step iView from Template End of the navigation path to create a new iView based on a template (see Creating Portal Objects ).

    2. Add an existing page or iView from the Portal Catalog, or the Detailed View, using the Start of the navigation path Add as Detailed Navigation Entry Next navigation step New End of the navigation path option in the context menu of the object.

To add a workset as a detailed navigation entry, select the role folder that contains the workset, and in the Detailed View, choose Start of the navigation path Add as Detailed Navigation Entry Next navigation step New End of the navigation path.

An existing object is added to the detailed navigation entry with any services that have been assigned to it.

    Note

Each detailed navigation entry is created as a single iView or page (if you added it from the Portal Catalog). The entry can contain no more than one page (with pre-existing content) or two iViews.

  3. If your detailed navigation entry contains a single iView, you can add an additional new iView and/or replace the existing one.

    1. To add a second iView:

      1. With the detailed navigation entry selected, use the menu bar above to choose Start of the navigation path New Next navigation step Add to Content  Next navigation step iView from Remote Source End of the navigation path or Start of the navigation path New Next navigation step Add to Content  Next navigation step iView from Template End of the navigation path, as appropriate. A message appears notifying you that in order to continue, you must first create a page, which will contain the two iViews.

      3. Create the iView in the relevant iView wizard, which appears automatically after the page is created.

    2. To replace the existing iView with a new iView:

      1. With the detailed navigation entry selected, choose Start of the navigation path New Next navigation step Replace Content Next navigation step iView from Remote Source  End of the navigation path or Start of the navigation path New Next navigation step Replace Content Next navigation step iView from Template  End of the navigation path, as appropriate. • To place the object in a existing category, choose its name from the Choose category list.

      • To create a new category for the service, choose the Create new category link, and enter a Name and Description for it.

Caution

If you have significant experience in portal content management, you may sometimes find it necessary to use the Advanced editor link at the top right of the role editor. You must be aware that editing the workcenter role structure in this mode may irreversibly disrupt the workcenter role structure, so that subsequently, you will not be able to edit the role in the Basic editor.
