Use

When you locate a service definition in Services Registry, you can view all available information about it, such as its namespace, UDDI key, endpoints, classifications, and usage. In case the development infrastructure you use does not provide tools for managing the service definitions, you can manage them in Services Registry.

Prerequisites
  • You have found the service definitions you need to manage in Services Registry.

For more information, see Searching and Browsing Service Definitions .

  • The user account you use should be assigned to one of the following combinations of roles:

    • To view service definition details, SERVICES_REGISTRY_READ_ONLY and UDDI_Tier1.

    • To edit or remove service definitions, SERVICES_REGISTRY_READ_WRITE and also to one of the UDDI_TierN or UDDI_Admin roles.

For more information, see Services Registry Roles .

Procedure

Reviewing Service Definition Details

  • You can group the results of a search by choosing Start of the navigation path Group By Next navigation step QName End of the navigation path.

In the context of Services Registry, QName represents an identifier for a service definition that consists of the WSDL Port Type name and the namespace. When you choose to group by QName, the system displays the search result in groups, with service definitions sharing the same WSDL Port Type name and namespace displayed in the same group.

  • When reviewing and managing service definitions, classifications, and endpoints, you can select multiple items by holding the Ctrl key pressed.

  • To access the WSDL or the documentation of the service definition you can use the links in the General screen area.

You need to have permission to access the corresponding system to obtain the WSDL file.

  • You can expand classification values for classifications of group type.

By default, when a service definition or endpoint is classified with a group classification system, the system displays all assigned values separated by comma in the Value column.

  • In Used By , you can see a list of service groups that use the selected service definition.

  • To test an endpoint, select it and choose the Test button.

Web Services Navigator opens in a new window with the information about the selected endpoint preloaded. You should choose which operation to test and provide test data. Consider that testing a Web service endpoint requires you to have the necessary permissions to access this Web service in the provider system.

For more information, see Testing a Web Service Operation .

Managing Service Definitions

  • You can add or remove classification systems for service definitions and their endpoints.

For more information, see Classifying Service Definitions .

  • You can use the Delete button to remove a service definition from Services Registry.

You can also remove service endpoints. Consider that you should use this method only for third-party service definitions. For more information, see Removing Services from the Services Registry .

  • When editing a service definition, you can specify in the System Details screen area which system provides the service.

For more information about the provider systems, see Managing Physical Systems .
