Use

The Portal Content Studio provides all the tools needed to create and build portal content in a single interface. The content administrator uses these tools to manage the following types of portal content:

  • Roles

  • Worksets

  • Pages

  • iViews

  • Layouts

  • Business objects

  • Business object operations

The content creation tools available in the Portal Content Studio enable beginner and advanced content developers to create all types of content based on an organization's data resources, systems, and applications. The Portal Content Studio serves a wide spectrum of portal users. Beginner users can use existing iView templates to create their own content by modifying the relevant iView properties. In addition, they can create simple portal pages by assigning existing and self-created content. Advanced users, such as content experts and managers, can create advanced portal pages and iViews using the many tools offered in the Portal Content Studio.

To launch the Portal Content Studio , navigate to: Start of the navigation path Content Administration Next navigation step Portal Content Management End of the navigation path.

Prerequisites

If your portal is based on the default administrator roles supplied by SAP, you have been assigned the content administrator role.

Structure

Each part of the Portal Content Studio interface is dedicated to a particular function:

  • The detailed navigation panel at the left contains the following tiles:

    • Portal Content :

      Includes the Find options and the Portal Catalog tree, containing all portal content objects to which you have access permissions.

    • My Objects

      A personalized set of your most frequently-used objects

    • Detailed View

      A tree structure of the contents of the object selected in the Portal Catalog

  • The dynamic Overview page

    The Overview page is displayed as a default page for performing basic functions related to content administration. The page is customizable by administrators, who can group the related functions into categories of links. Users of the page can personalize the page to meet their own specific needs.

    Note

    Similar Overview pages are provided for other main functions in content administration and system administration as well.

  • The object wizards and editors area

    As objects are created or edited, the relevant wizards and editors are opened in additional tabs to the right of the Overview tab.

Features

The Portal Content Studio:

  • Provides a central point of access and management of all portal content in the Portal Catalog tree.

  • Provides a content-development environment that offers content developers, of all expertise levels, the tools to create portal content without having to write code.

  • Enables content to be filtered based on user access permissions.

  • Provides a content-development environment that enables creation of content above SAP and non-SAP applications.

  • Allows multiple content objects to be edited in parallel.
