Assigning Collections to a TranslatorLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

You need to assign collections to each translator so that they can call up the objects belonging to these collections in a worklist and translate them. Each translator can also display translation statistics for the collections assigned to them, to enable them to monitor their personal workload.

Prerequisites
  • The user(s) to whom you want to assign collections are created as translators in LXE_MASTER. .

  • Your translator profile includes authorization USCO with value 01 (if you are assigning collections to translators in your team) or with value 02 (if you are assigning collections to translators not in your team). To assign collections that are not assigned to you, you also need authorization COSE with value 01 .

Procedure

The procedure for assigning collections depends on whether you have been created as a coordinator for all languages (language ****) or for just one language, and whether you want to assign collections to one translator or several translators at the same time.

Collection assignment takes place in transaction LXE_MASTER on the Translators tab page.

The table below describes the three possible procedures:

Activity

Procedure

Assign collections to one translator (all coordinators)

  1. Choose Assignments or select the Display/Change Collection->Translator Assignments icon on the toolbar.

The Translators (Language, Translator) dialog box appears.

  2. Expand the target language of the translator to whom you want to assign collections and double-click the translator.

The Translators dialog box appears. Any collections that are already assigned to the translator are displayed in this dialog box.

  3. If you only want to assign a few collections, enter them manually in this dialog box. You also need to enter the translation area ( 999999 for ABAP translation) and domain type ( R for ABAP translation) for each collection that you enter here.

  4. To select a number of collections, choose Collections and select the collections that you want to assign. Choose Continue .

  5. Choose Save.

Assign collections to several translators (coordinators for one or multiple specific target language(s) only)

  1. Choose Assign Collections on the Translators tab page or the Assign Collections to Translators button on the toolbar.

The Target Language dialog box appears.

    Note

All target languages defined in the system are listed. If you select a target language for which you have not been created as a coordinator, the system displays an error message.

  2. Double-click the target language of the translators to whom you want to assign collections.

    The Collections dialog box appears.

  3. Select the collections that you want to assign and choose Continue .

The Translators (Language, Translator) dialog box appears.

  4. Double-click the translators to whom you want to assign the selected collections and choose Execute.

A dialog box informs you of how many translators and target languages are affected by this assignment.

  5. Choose Assign .

  6. Repeat this procedure for any further collection assignments that you need to make.

Caution

All collections that you select here are assigned to the translators irrespective of how those collections are defined in the translation graph. This means it is possible for you to assign collections to a translator that are not relevant for translation.

Assign collections to multiple translators (applies to coordinators created for ALL (****) target languages only)

  1. Choose Assign Collections.

  2. Select the collections that you want to assign and choose Save.

The Choose Translators dialog box appears.

  3. Select the translators to whom you want to assign these collections using the input boxes. You can, for example, select groups of translators according to their target language using the Targ. Lang input box or just select Select next to Total to select all translators in the system.

  4. The Check Languages Against Graphs Before Assigning checkbox enables you to assign only those collections that are translation-relevant in a specific language to the translators that you have selected above. This means that if a particular collection is assigned for translation into target language enUS, but not into esES, then the collection assignment is adjusted automatically according to how translation of that collection is defined in the translation graph . This enables you to assign a large number of collections to multiple translators across a variety of target languages in a fast and targeted way. Choose Save to execute the assignment.

  5. A dialog box informs you of how many translators and target languages are affected by this assignment. Choose Assign .

Result

After successfully assigning collections to translators, they can now call up the objects belonging to these collections in a worklist and translate them. Each translator can also display translation statistics for the collections assigned to them.
