Restrictions
Restrictions are parameters that are used in the SAPterm terminology database to classify terms for special handling in the source and target languages. The restrictions are:

Non-translatable

Proprietary restriction

Legal restriction
There are some general standards that apply to the use of restrictions:

You should only use restrictions if they are absolutely necessary.

Only a SAPterm superuser is authorized to set the restriction Non-translatable.

Restrictions can be set individually or in combination.
Non-Translatable Restriction
You use the restriction Non-translatable in SAPterm to indicate that a source language term must remain the same in all target translation languages.
Trademarked and copyrighted product and brand names, such as SAP NetWeaver.
Terms that cannot be changed for technical reasons, such as Simple Object Access Protocol (abbreviation SOAP).
Once this restriction is set, the term will be replicated with status 1 to all target languages after the SAPterm superuser has released the source term.
Proprietary Restriction
You use the Proprietary Restriction parameter in SAPterm to indicate the trademarked or copyrighted names of products or special features used by a company.
This does not necessarily mean that the term entry cannot be translated, only that, if it is translated, it must be translated as defined by the owner.
The name of the Microsoft product Microsoft Windows CE remains the same in all languages. This term would be marked with the restrictions Non-Translatable and Proprietary Restriction.
Legal Restriction
You use the Legal Restriction parameter
to indicate that a specific legal issue affects the wording and translation of a term.
Titles of regulations or other features of official government documents or forms. The legal name of the German Bundesanstalt für Finanzdienstleistungsaufsicht is called the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority in English.
