Background documentationTime-Sensitive Material Check In/Out Locate this document in the navigation structure

You use this plug-in to control and track the shelf life and exposure time of materials that are sensitive to environmental conditions. This activity supports the check-in and check-out of a time-sensitive material from a controlled environment and back into a controlled environment. While material is in a controlled environment, the maximum floor life clock is stopped but the shelf life continues running. When material is out of the controlled environment, the floor life clock is restarted; the shelf life clock continues running.

For more information, see Time-Sensitive Materials.

Prerequisites
  • You have set up the ALLOW_UPDATE_FLOOR_LIFE and AUTOMATIC_ID_GENERATION activity rules in Activity Maintenance (see Maintain Floor Stock and Floor Stock Receipt).

  • You have defined time-sensitive material settings for materials on the TSM tab page in Material Maintenance (see TSM Tab).

Rules

The following table describes rules and settings defined for this activity in Activity Maintenance:

Rule

Setting

PLUGIN_URL

Specifies the plug-in location in the SAP ME folder structure

Default value: /COM/SAP/ME/INVENTORY/CLIENT/TSMPLUGIN.JSP

Caution Caution

Any changes to the PLUGIN_URL activity rule setting in Activity Maintenance may result in incorrect display of the plug-in in the POD.

End of the caution.
Fields

The following table describes fields requiring explanation:

Field

Description

Out

Indicates that an SFC number or inventory ID is currently checked out

Remaining Max Shelf Life

The remaining shelf life of the entire SFC number and inventory ID

Equals the shortest remaining maximum shelf life of any inventory ID included within the SFC number

Note that month values are estimated based on 30 days per month.

Remaining Max Floor Life

The remaining time exposed to the floor life of the entire SFC number and inventory ID

Equals the shortest remaining maximum floor life of any inventory ID included within the SFC number

Note that month values are estimated based on 30 days per month.

Current Time Out

The current elapsed time exposed to the atmosphere of the entire SFC number or for the inventory ID

Equals the maximum elapsed exposure time of any active inventory ID included within the SFC number

Cum Time Out

The cumulative elapsed time exposed to the atmosphere of the entire SFC number or for the individual inventory ID

Equals the maximum cumulative elapsed exposure time of any active inventory ID included within the SFC number

Check In

Choose this button to capture the check-in date and time and stop the consumption of floor life units for the selected inventory IDs. It does not stop the shelf life clock, and resets the Current Time Out Clock to zero for the selected inventory IDs. You can check in all the inventory IDs associated with the SFC number at assembly point that are currently checked out (see Assembly Point (Assemble Components)).

Check Out

Choose this button to capture the check-out date and time and start the consumption of floor life units for the selected inventory IDs. You can check out all inventory IDs associated with the SFC number at assembly point that are not expired or closed. It does not permit a check-out if the Maximum Shelf Life or Floor Life is exceeded.

Note Note

You can check in or check out all SFC statuses except an SFC number with an Invalid status. You can check in or check out an inventory ID regardless of the status.

End of the note.
