Background documentationAssembly Point (Assemble Components) Locate this document in the navigation structure

You use this activity to record assembly work on the shop floor and to enter assembly data values for the material at an assembly point operation for one or more SFC numbers.

To record the removal of components or the assembly of non-BOM components, use As-Built Configuration (see As-Built Configuration).

This activity can be used with the PARSE_COMPONENT activity hook point (see Hook Points).

Rules

The following table describes rules and settings that you can change for this (CT500) activity in Activity Maintenance:

Rule

Setting

ALLOW_SKIP

YES: Allows the operator to skip the entry of assembly data values for a component row in Sequence mode and enforces the components to be assembled according to the BOM sequence

NO (default): Prevents the operator from skipping a component row in Sequence mode

ASSEMBLY_MODE

Controls how the operator enters assembly data values for components at an assembly operation.

CHOOSE (default): Allows an operator to record assembled components for each assembly in any order

SEQUENCE: Requires an operator to record assembled components as defined by the assembly BOM sequence

CHOOSE_AUTO_NEXT: The next non-assembled component by assembly sequence is automatically selected in the Component List during the assembly operation. The first component is selected by the user and then the system automatically goes to the next component based upon the assembly sequence in the BOM on the Assemble Components screen.

AUTO_ADD_ON_TABOUT

If set to YES, the component is automatically added after the user tabs out of the last text field.

DISPLAY_BARCODE

If set to YES (default), displays the Barcode field on the Assemble Components screen (see Two-Dimensional (2D) Barcode Scanning).

ENFORCE_ASSY_STATES

TRUE: Allows the assembly of components only when the POD operation matches the assembly operation and the selected SFC numbers have an overall status of Active

FALSE: Does not perform the validation; the selected SFC numbers can have any status and do not need to be at the assembly operation.

PLUGIN_URL

Specifies the plug-in location in the SAP ME folder structure

Default value: /COM/SAP/ME/PRODUCTION/CLIENT/ASSEMBLECOMPONENTS.JSP

Caution Caution

Any changes to the PLUGIN_URL activity rule setting in Activity Maintenance may result in incorrect display of the plug-in in the POD.

End of the caution.
Fields

The following table describes fields requiring explanation:

Field

Description

Mode

Choose: Indicates you can add components to a parent SFC assembly in any order. You may work with more than one SFC at a time.

Sequence: Indicates that you must add components to a parent SFC assembly in the order that they appear in the Component List (see Component List). You may work with more than one parent SFC at a time.

Choose Auto Next Indicates you can add components to a parent SFC assembly in any order. The next non-assembled component by assembly sequence is automatically selected in the Component List during the assembly operation.

<number> SFC Selected

The number of parent SFC numbers that selected for assembly.

SFC

The first parent SFC number

<number> / <number>

The left-hand number indicates the number of the current parent SFC number. The right-hand number indicates the total number of parent SFC numbers that you selected in the upper half of the POD.

Component Details

Component

The component that you are to assemble on to the selected parent SFC numbers.

Note that only valid BOM or alternate components are accepted.

Version

The version of the component.

Note Note

If the BOM component version is an asterisk, the field is blank and no Assembly Data area fields are displayed until you enter the version and tab out of this field. Only current versions of alternate components are accepted.

End of the note.

Qty

The quantity of the component you have to assemble on to each of the selected parent SFC numbers.

Note Note

If the defined lot size in Material Maintenance is 1, but the Assy Qty Req in Component List is 3, it will always display 1. The user does need to change it.

End of the note.

Ref Des

The reference designator of the component.

This field appears only if reference designators are defined in the BOM for this component.

Location

The location of the component on a panel.

This field appears only if locations are used.

Add

Adds the component specified to the selected parent SFC numbers.

Close

Closes the plug-in without adding the component specified to the selected parent SFC numbers or any information entered in fields.

Skip

Skips a component row in sequence mode.

This field appears only if the ALLOW_SKIP rule is set to YES.
