The system loads the following standard PODs:

  • Default Standard POD

    Technical name is *.

For more information, see Default Standard POD.

  • Base POD

    Technical name is BASEPOD.

BASEPOD is a configuration of the * (default) POD from previous versions of the system. The BASEPOD contains no group pushbuttons such as Activities... and Reports....

  • Build POD

    Technical name is BUILD.

You can use the BUILD POD for operators at assembly points who record information about the components they consume in the system.

  • Pass/Fail POD

    Technical name is PASS_FAIL.

You can use the PASS_FAIL POD for operators who perform operations that do not require a start activity.

  • Diagnosis POD

    Technical name is DIAGNOSIS.

You can use the DIAGNOSIS POD for operators who analyze product problems and record their conclusions in the system.

  • PCA POD

    Technical name is PCA.

The printed circuit assembly (PCA) dashboard allows operators who test, inspect, analyze, and repair PCA boards to view and interact with GenCAD, GenCAM or .a3p files for those boards.

  • Pack POD

    Technical name is PACK.

You can use the PACK POD to record the work of operators who pack or unpack your finished goods for shipment or storage. This POD is used to add SFC numbers to a specific container or remove them from it.

  • Lot POD

    Technical name is LOT.

You can use the LOT POD for operators who need to merge, split, and nonconform SFC numbers, in addition to performing more standard production tasks. This POD is designed to operate on lots (SFC numbers with a quantity greater than 1.0). The operator is not restricted to operating on lots. The operator may process SFC numbers with any quantity in this POD.

Unlike other PODs, the LOT POD includes the Quantity field to support the processing of partial quantities of an SFC number. If a Quantity is not entered, then the system assumes the operator wants to process all of the quantity in the SFC number. In this POD, when operators enter a partial quantity in the Quantity field and choose the Log NC pushbutton, SFC Split runs so the operator can split off the nonconformed quantity into a new SFC number. Log NC runs on the new SFC number – the one containing only the quantity being nonconformed.

  • ECO POD

    Technical name is ECO.

You can use the ECO POD for operators who follow instructions specified by an engineering change order.

  • Start by Item POD

    Technical name is START_BY_ITEM.

You can use this POD for operators in high-volume environments who start large numbers of SFC numbers at an operation.

Common Features

All of the predefined standard PODs do the following:

  • Display the Operation field

  • Display the Resource field

  • Use SFC as the main input label

  • Use the SFC_ACTIVELIST Active Work list

  • Use the SFC_TASKLIST Task list, except the START_BY_ITEM POD. The START_BY_ITEM POD uses the START_BY_ITEM Task list

  • Except the LOT POD, do not display the Quantity field

However, the predefined standard PODs display different pushbuttons and have different POD pushbutton activities associated with these pushbuttons. For more information, see POD Pushbuttons and POD Pushbutton Activities.
