 Defining Budget and Posting Addresses Locate this document in the navigation structure

Use

The following functions are available in BCS for defining budget or posting addresses:

  • Individual Maintenance

    Individual maintenance is designed for changes that you want to make to a small number of FM account assignments. You can create budget or posting addresses in individual maintenance or delete existing budget or posting addresses. You work with the functions of the SAP List Viewerin individual maintenance.

    Individual maintenance is useful if you want to display budget addresses that were generated in a mass run, or if you want to make changes to individual existing budget addresses. Individual maintenance is not intended for creating large amounts of budget addresses. You can find more information under Individual Maintenance of Budget and Posting Addresses .

  • Mass Maintenance

    Mass maintenance is intended for the creation or deletion of large numbers of budget or posting addresses.

    You process budget addresses in the FM area/fiscal year per budget category and budget structure. If both budget categories are used in your organization, you can decide whether you want to use the same budget structure for both payment and commitment budget, or different budget structures for each budget category.

    The situation is different for the processing of posting addresses. You create or delete posting addresses in the appropriate FM area/fiscal year per posting ledger.

  • Validation

    In a validation you can determine which FM account assignments of a FM area/fiscal year are generally excluded as budget or posting addresses. You can find more information under Validation of Budget and Posting Addresses .

  • Generating Budget and Posting Addresses from Data

    If you have already created budget and posting data in your FM area/fiscal year, you can generate budget and posting addresses from this data. For more information see Generating BS Elements from Budget and Posting Data .

Integration

Displaying FM Account Assignment Elements

The other possible Funds Management account assignments elements (apart from funds center and commitment item) are only displayed in the screen section Selection FM Account Assignments of the individual or mass maintenance if they are activated for the Budget Control System.

You activate FM account assignment elements for BCS in the Customizing of Funds Management under   Basic Settings: Account Assignment Elements   Activate Account Assignment Elements   .

Index of Budget and Posting Addresses

When you create posting addresses, the system generated index entries in which the assignments of posting addresses to budget addresses are saved. You can find more information under Indexes of Budget and Posting Addresses .

Copying Budget and Posting Addresses

Budget and posting addresses that you defined can be easily copied to the next fiscal year. You can find more information under Copying Budget and Posting Addresses .

Budget Addresses and Availability Control Objects

If you use availability control in the budget control system, every budget address (or FM account assignment) to which you post budget is automatically represented as a control object in availability control. In the standard system, SAP supports a 1:1 assignment between budget addresses and availability control objects. Using a derivation strategy, you can define another assignment or a summarization between budget addresses and control objects per availability control ledger in availability control.

You define budget and posting addresses in the Funds Management menu under   Master Data   Use of Account Assignment Elements   Budget Control System (BCS)   Budget Structure   .
