Prerequisites

You are assigned to a sales office that supports booking of flights (see Customizing for R/3 Travel Planning under Master Data ® Travel Planning Control Parameters ® Feature TRVOF: Access Parameters per User/Employee Group and Define Travel Service Categories).

Procedure

You have created a travel request using the Planning Manager.

  1. Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Flight - with quickinfo Add Flight Request
  2. The Flight Request dialog box appears.

  3. Choose the type of flight using the selection buttons:

Depending on the type of flight selected, varying entry boxes for the connection query will be available.

  1. Enter the departure and arrival locations. You can enter the name of a town or an IATA location abbreviation. The system only recognizes towns that are defined as, or associated to, IATA locations.
  2. Enter the departure date. If you have selected flight type round trip, enter the date of the return flight. If you selected multiple connections, you can enter the destination location of the next following connection using the icon Copy. You can create up to six individual connections.
  3. You can enter a time for all flight types (optional).
  4. You can also choose whether the time specified is to be the arrival or departure time.
  5. Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Availability - with quick info Availability Query (Enter) to query flight availability.

Depending on availability the system lists 15 to 20 flight connections. If travel profiles have been created for your company (see the section Travel Profiles in Customizing for Travel Planning), all flight connections are displayed according to priorities. The priorities determine which offers are able to be booked according to the trip rules of your company.

The flights displayed, depends upon the travel profile set up for you (see Customizing for Travel Planning under Trip rules and profiles ® Define Assignment of Travel Profiles to Trip and Class Rules) and the display strategy for the travel planning control variant that you are assigned to (see Customizing for Travel Planning under Dialog and Planning Control ® Travel Planning Control ® Define Price and Availability Strategies).

Note

You can display further information for a flight, for example air miles, possible meals and drinks, smoking and nonsmoking details, by clicking on This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Flight information – with quickinfo Flight Information (F5).

  1. Select the required classes for your flights and choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Choose.
