The connected reservation system cannot deliver prices while you are querying the availability of flights because the flight price depends on the combination of all the flights required for a trip (for example, outbound and return flights).

The flight price is required so that later the ticket can be issued by the travel agency to complete the booking process.

The price can be determined before the booking, in other words after selecting the flight connection from an availability list, or during or after the booking has been made.

You can make the following settings for price determination in combination with the travel planning control variant. You make these settings in Customizing for R/3 Travel Planning, under Dialog and Planning Control ® Travel Planning Control ® Define price and availability strategies, in the field Price determination.

• Not automatic:
  The System does not automatically determine the price. The price determination process must be started by the user, for example by pressing the button Price.

• Automatic after Selection:
  The system automatically determines the price for the flight connection after a flight has been selected from a standard query. The flight price will be displayed in the overview of the travel service in the planning manager.

• Automatic after selection + Best Price Comparison:
  The flight price will be determined automatically if the user selects a flight using the standard availability query. In addition to this, the system starts the Best Price Flight query and a dialog box appears offering the user the option to replace the selected flight with a cheaper alternative, if they so wish.

• Query when Booking:
  No automatic price determination takes place after the flight has been selected. If the user does not manually determine the price using the corresponding button, the system creates a query when booking the travel plan to ask whether the price should be determined. From this query, the user can now determine the price, or if they do not want to determine it at this stage, allow the travel agency to determine the price at a later point in time.

The existence of a price is a prerequisite for issuing the flight ticket. If the system cannot determine a current price you can either have the travel agency carry out the price determination at a later date or use a different booking class and restart the price determination.
