Prerequisites for Integration with SAP EWM

Recommendation Recommendation

If you are using SAP Dock Appointment Scheduling integrated with SAP EWM, we recommend that you use docking locations to represent the SAP EWM warehouse in SAP Dock Appointment Scheduling.

If you are upgrading from SAP Dock Appointment Scheduling 9.0, all the features that were available in 9.0 are still available without creating docking locations. However, the new features require the use of docking locations.

End of the recommendation.
Planning in SAP Dock Appointment Scheduling

You have done the following:

  • You have created a docking location with the name of the supply chain unit (SCU) of the SAP EWM warehouse as the name of the docking location.

To ensure that you are using the correct SCU name, choose Start of the navigation path Dock Appointment Scheduling Next navigation step Settings Next navigation step Simple Setup Next navigation step Simple Setup of Integrated Dock Appointment Scheduling End of the navigation path.

Choose Create Docking Location. A dialog box appears. Enter the warehouse number of the SAP EWM warehouse. The system finds the correct SCU name.

    Note Note

You cannot assign more than one docking location to the same warehouse.

    End of the note.
  • You have entered the integration settings type in the SAP EWM Integration field in the docking location.

If you want the integration to behave differently for inbound loading appointments and outbound loading appointments, choose Use Integration Settings and create the integration settings in the NetWeaver menu for Dock Appointment Scheduling under Start of the navigation path Interfaces Next navigation step Integration Settings for Dock Appointment Scheduling End of the navigation path.

  • You have created your loading points based on the docking location. The system copies the integration setting of the docking location into the loading points.

  • You have assigned doors to each loading point.

On the Simple Setup of Integrated Dock Appointment Scheduling screen, choose Assign Doors to Loading Points. Alternatively, in the NetWeaver Business Client menu for Extended Warehouse Management, choose Start of the navigation path Settings Next navigation step Shipping and Receiving Next navigation step Dock Appointment Scheduling Next navigation step Assign Doors to Loading Point End of the navigation path.

Note Note

If you are upgrading from SAP Dock Appointment Scheduling 9.0, you can still use the integration with SAP EWM on loading point level without creating docking locations. You can integrate SAP Dock Appointment Scheduling with SAP EWM for each loading point individually by assigning doors to the loading point. On the SAP Easy Access screen for Extended Warehouse Management, choose Start of the navigation path Extended Warehouse Management Next navigation step Settings Next navigation step Shipping and Receiving Next navigation step Dock Appointment Scheduling Next navigation step Assign Doors to Loading Point End of the navigation path. Then you activate the integration with SAP EWM in the loading point. You can assign doors from the same warehouse to different loading points, but you cannot assign doors from multiple warehouses to the same loading point.

End of the note.

For more information about supply chain units and docking locations, see Docking Locations.

Planning in SAP EWM

Note Note

You cannot use this process without creating a docking location. If you are upgrading from SAP Dock Appointment Scheduling 9.0, you can assign your existing loading points to the new docking location as long as the integration settings are the same for all the loading points and the docking location.

End of the note.

You have done the following:

  • You have created a docking location with the name of the SCU of the SAP EWM warehouse as the name of the docking location.

  • You have created your loading points based on the docking location. The system copies the integration setting of the docking location into the loading points.

  • You have assigned doors to each loading point.

On the Simple Setup of Integrated Dock Appointment Scheduling screen, choose Assign Doors to Loading Points. Alternatively, in the NetWeaver Business Client menu for SAP Extended Warehouse Management, choose Start of the navigation path Settings Next navigation step Shipping and Receiving Next navigation step Dock Appointment Scheduling Next navigation step Assign Doors to Loading Point End of the navigation path.

If you want to use loading point determination for a pick to stage process in SAP EWM, you must assign the doors that belong to the same staging area group to the same loading point.

  • You have defined the TU profiles in SAP EWM to use a pick to load or a pick to stage process in Customizing for Extended Warehouse Management, under Start of the navigation path Cross-Process Settings Next navigation step Shipping and Receiving Next navigation step General Settings Next navigation step Define TU Profile End of the navigation path.

For more information about the processes, see Loading Appointments Originating in SAP Extended Warehouse Management.

  • You have defined the integration settings for inbound appointments and outbound appointments. In the NetWeaver Business Client menu for Extended Warehouse Management, choose Start of the navigation path Interfaces Next navigation step Dock Appointment Scheduling Next navigation step Integration Settings for EWM End of the navigation path.

  • You have checked that the number range for appointment numbers and the number range for TU numbers do not overlap. If there is any overlap in the number ranges, it can lead to errors during automatic creation of loading appointments or TUs.
