Start from the menu of the respective information system and select:  Standard analyses Selection version Create .

The initial screen for changing an info set appears.

Enter the name of the selection version and an explanatory description in the field Selection version .

Enter the name of the information structure for which the selection version is to be created in the field Info structure .

You can use a selection version that already exists as a template. To do this, refer to the name of the selection version that you would like to use as a template in the field Selection version .

Press Enter.

You will see the definition screen.

You can assign parameters to the selection version.

Currency and Exchange Rate Type:

You can specify an analysis currency and an exchange rate. This entries are used in the aggregation lists and serve as default values for the selection screen.

Period to Analyze:

Enter the number of periods for the selected data in the fields Periods to now and Future periods . Place a cross in the field Current period, if you want the current period to be included.

Dynamic Calculation:

If you place a cross in this box, then the system dynamically determines the period to analyze from the current date. This is always recommended if you wish to read the data for the last three months at certain intervals, for instance. If background processing is triggered, in this example the system will always read data for the last three months (based on the current date). For this reason, no period to analyze can be specified when you create a variant for background processing and the selection fields for the period to analyze are no longer displayed during variant maintenance.

Do not place a cross in the field if you wish to read data for a static period, such as the 1st quarter of 1996. This is the selection field for entering the period to analyze.

Distribution List:

You can allocate the selection version to several people who belong to a general distribution list. The selection version is then displayed to these people in the user-specific overview.

User

You can allocate the selection version to exactly one user.

If you do not make an entry in either the Distribution list or in the User field, then the selection version will be made available to all users.

Variant:

You can specify the area to analyze of a selection version in the form of a variant. If a variant is created for a selection version, the name of the variant is displayed in this field.

Specify the characteristics.

If you select  Edit Choose characteristics, a selection list containing the characteristics of the selected information structure appears.

The sequence in which you select the characteristics determines standard drilldown.

In the case of selection versions for which data selection is scheduled to run in background processing mode and has been completed, the data for the characteristics selected here is stored in aggregated form. For this reason in subsequent display screens, you can only drilldown on the characteristics specified here. You can only use "real" characteristics. Character key figures that are in the selection screen of the standard analysis that are as additional key figures cannot be selected.

You can generate different initial lists for the data display in the standard analysis. You can generate an initial list for all characteristics you have selected. The data is cumulated at the selected characteristic level. The system then offers the initial lists for you to choose from for the selection version in the overview. If one data selection is scheduled to run in the background for the selection version and has been completed, you can display the standard analysis with the initial list.

Place a G in the field if you would like to generate an initial list on the level of the selected characteristic.

Specify the key figures. If you select  Edit Choose key figures, a selection list containing the key figures of the selected information structure appears. You can make a selection to determine the key figure view for the standard analysis.
