The content of a workspace is composed of modules. A module is a content item, such as an iView or a page, which runs in a workspace page. A module can display information, such as a Web URL, or a SAP BusinessObjects report. A module can also enable user interaction, such as editing the contents of a text pad, viewing documents in a document list, or customizing a list of links to applications or reports.
To create the content of a workspace, you use module templates. A module template is a template for a module, which defines the properties of the modules that you create from it. Once you add a module template to a workspace page, it is no longer a template, but a placeholder for the module. You can then configure the module settings, so that when the workspace is published it will display the desired content. For more information, see Configuring Module Settings.
