Creating a Module TemplateLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

The enterprise workspaces Module Library enables you to manage existing module templates and create new module templates.

To create a new template, you use a wizard where you:

  1. Specify the source object, such as an iView or a Web URL, on which to base the module template.

    Note

You can also use the Duplicate option to base the template on a copy of an existing module template.

  2. Configure the general properties of the template. For example, you can attach a custom icon, specify whether the template is available for shared workspaces, personal workspaces, or both, and select the categories under which to display the template.

  3. Optional: Configure additional properties.

  4. Configure the permissions for the template, which determine the users, groups, or roles that have access to the module template in the Module Gallery.

Prerequisites
  • You are assigned the portal Content Admin role.

  • You are assigned the Workspace Content Administration role.

Procedure
  1. In the portal, navigate to Start of the navigation path Workspace Administration Next navigation step Module Templates End of the navigation path.

    The Module Library appears.

  2. You can create the new module template based on an existing module template, or by defining its source object.

    • To base the module template on an existing module template, select the existing template and choose Duplicate.

    • To define the source object of a module template, from Create a Module Template, on the right side of the Module Gallery, select the type of source object on which to base the module template: Portal Content, Portal Role, or URL

The first step of the template creation wizard is displayed. The tab in focus corresponds to the selected source. You can select a different tab, if necessary.

      Source Type

How to Select the Source Object

      Portal Content

Select an iView or a page in the Portal Content tree.

      Portal Role

      Note

You can create multiple module templates by selecting multiple items that are assigned to the role. (The instructions continue in singular format.)

      1. Search for the role that contains the iView or page that you want to use as a source.

      2. In the table, select a role.

      3. In the tree, select one or more iViews and pages from which to create module templates. The maximum number of items that you can select is indicated. The maximum number is determined by the Maximum Number of Module Templates property, located in the Modules tab of the Configuration screen. For more information, see Configuring Module Properties.

      Note

You can only select iViews and pages that reside directly under a role or a workset that is defined as an entry point, or that reside within the hierarchy of such a role or workset.

      URL

Enter a Web URL, including http(s)://.

      Note

The Create a Module Template wizard filters out the following types of iViews and pages: Web Dynpro Java Integrator iViews, Workset Map iViews, Service Map iViews, all pages except Web Dynpro Proxy Pages, and all FPN pages and iViews. You can configure the objects to filter out, as described in Configuring Object Types Not to Use as Sources for a Module Template below.

      Note

When the selected source object is an embedded iView, the resulting module is isolated.
