Use

You can display and edit actions with the Action Editor. In addition to this you can assign one or more outbound or inbound interfaces to an action.

Actions are defined independently from Process Integration scenarios and can therefore be used in different Process Integration scenarios.

Prerequisites

You have created a new configuration or have opened an existing one.

You can find further information on creating objects in the Enterprise Services Builder under Creating New Objects .

You can find further information on opening objects in the Enterprise Services Builder under Object Editors .

Features

The Action Editor consists of a header and an address area.

Header

The following information is displayed in the header of the Action Editor:

  • Name and Namespace

Name and namespace are part of the object key. The object key is defined when creating the action.

  • Description

In this field you can enter a short description of the action in the logon language. This description is then displayed in the graphic of a Process Integration scenario if the action is used in this Process Integration scenario. If there is no description, the name of the action is displayed in the graphic.

  • Status

The status of the object is displayed here.

Work Area

The work area consists of three screen areas:

  • Use

  • Inbound Interfaces

  • Outbound Interfaces

Screen Area Use

In this screen area you define for the action the application components that it can be used in. You can select one of the two options using the selection buttons:

  • Internal (defined for own software component versions)

  • External (defined for software component versions of a partner or template)

For more information, see Adding Actions .

Caution

Note that once the use has been saved it is no longer possible to change it.

Screen Areas

Outbound/Inbound Interfaces You can assign interfaces to the action or reset interface assignments.

In the Outbound Interfaces and Inbound Interfaces areas, the assigned interfaces are displayed in a table. The name and namespace are displayed for each interface.

Using the search help you can search for interfaces in the ES Repository or navigate to the create dialog box for service interfaces.

Note

The search help for service interfaces and imported objects (RFCs, IDocs) is restricted to the software component version of the action.

If you put the cursor on a table row, the following information about the interface is displayed in a quick info box:

  • Message type

  • Type ( inbound , outbound , or abstract )

  • Mode ( synchronous or asynchronous )

  • Namespace

  • Software Component Version

For more information, see Assigning Interfaces and Resetting Interface Assignments .
