Function documentation Assigning Services  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

You use this function to assign services to the application components of integration scenario.

The type of service to be assigned depends on how you defined the application component when you designed integration scenario.

Note

In the following, application components of type External Party with B2B Communication are B2B Components.

Application components that are not B2B components are Internal Application Components.

Relationship Between Application Component and Service Type

Application Component

Assignable Service

Internal application component (without assigned integration process)

One or more business system services

One or more business services (only if the application component has at least one connection to a B2B component; in this case, the assignments between the business services and business system services must match)

Internal application component (with assigned integration process)

Exactly one integration process service

Exactly one business services (only if the application component has at least one connection to a B2B component; in this case, the assignment between the business services and integration process services must match)

B2B Component

One or more business services

If an internal application component has at least one connection to a B2B component, use business services as neutral representatives for communication with the external party. The assignments between business services and business system services, and between business services and integration process services define which business systems or integration processes from your internal system landscape are mapped to which (externally visible) business services: this results in an appropriate header mapping in the receiver agreement that is generated.

Note

See also Configuring B2B Scenarios.

Prerequisites

You have selected an integration scenario (component view).

Activities

To call the function for assigning services, in the Configuration Steps menu bar, choose the Assign Services step. The Assign Services to Application Components dialog is displayed. The navigation arrows (This graphic is explained in the accompanying text and This graphic is explained in the accompanying text) enable you to navigate between the application components in the integration scenario.

Depending on the type of application component, you can perform the following activities.

Once you have made the necessary entries, confirm them by choosing Assign.

If you want to create a new business system service, choose Create Services for Business Systems (This graphic is explained in the accompanying text).

The following steps are then only required if the application component has at least one connection to a B2B component.
