Activation
Here you find all the steps required to activate Digital Asset Management.
Create the characteristics in characteristics management (transaction CT04) of the CRM system in which you want to use DAM. For more information about managing characteristics and classifications, see SAP Help Portal at .
In class management (transaction CL02), create characteristics classes CRM_DAM, CRM_DAM_MT, and CRM_DAM_LI and assign the created characteristics to this class. For more information, see SAP Help Portal at .
So that only the characteristics created for DAM are visible for MIME type properties within the DAM application, notify the system of the characteristics class and class type in Customizing at :
DAM_MT_CLASSNAME = CRM_DAM_MT
DAM_CLASSTYPE = DAM
So that only the characteristics created for legal information are visible for MIME type properties within the DAM application, notify the system of the characteristics class and class type in Customizing at :
DAM_LI_CLASSNAME = CRM_DAM_LI
DAM_CLASSTYPE = DAM
In number range object maintenance (transaction SNRO) create an interval for the number range of the MIME type administration (object CRM_DAM_MT) if it does not exist yet.
So that only the characteristics created for DAM are visible for MIME type properties within the DAM application, notify the system of the characteristics class and class type in Customizing at :
DAM_CLASSNAME = CRM_DAM
DAM_CLASSTYPE = DAM
Define security-relevant properties. For more information, see the Customizing at .
Set up the content server and a repository. This improves scalability during download.
In Customizing at create a storage category for this repository.
In Customizing at assign the category you created to class CRM_P_DAM.
From now on, all newly created digital assets are saved on the content server.
For more information, see SAP Service Marketplace at or SAP Note 612463.
If, in addition to the assets, you also want to save previews and thumbnails on the content server, set up a repository and a category as described above and assign this category to class CRM_P_DAMA.
Activate status management and modify it.
For more information about modifying status management, see Customizing at
Use Maintain Services (transaction SICF) to set up the SICF service. For more information about the content server, see SAP Service Marketplace at .
You have activated the following services in Maintain Services (transaction SICF):
default_host/sap/bc/bsp/crmdam and all services below
default_host/sap/bc/bsp/sap/system
default_host/sap/bc/bsp/sap/public/bc
default_host/sap/public/bsp/sap/public/bc
default_host/sap/public/bsp/sap/system
default_host/sap/public/bsp/sap/htmlb
default_host/sap/public/bc
default_host/sap/public/bc/ur
For more information, see SAP Help Portal at .
Create the RFC Connections for the Conversion Server.
For more information, see Customizing at
Set up the graphics server. You can specify, for example, the properties of the IGS you want to connect.
For more information, see Customizing at .
For more information about the Internet Graphics Server (IGS), see Internet Graphics Service.
If you are running Digital Asset Management on a NetWeaver 2004s Enterprise Portal, you have to enable read access for the installed Web service.
To do this, log on to the portal as an administrator and choose . In the context menu, choose Open Permissions, add the group Everyone, assign it read access, and select the End User indicator.
If you want to use the workflow to approve digital assets, activate event linkage for this workflow (SAP CRM CRM-MKT CRM-MKT-DAM).
In the default system all users get an approval work item for a digital asset. If only specific users are to get an approval work item, then you must set this up in the agent assignment.
For more information, see Customizing at and SAP Help Portal at
If you want to scan digital assets for viruses at upload, you can install a virus scan. To integrate it, use the virus scan interface (VSI).
For more information about the virus scan interface, see:
SAP Note 786179 and the SAP Notes appended to it
SAP Help Portal at .
The virus scan in DAM takes place during upload using the single and mass uploads of digital assets. If a file contains a virus, the file is not uploaded, and the system issues an error message.
In User Maintenance (transaction SU01), create a DAM index service user. The user requires authorization to read all digital assets and should not be a dialog user. Also enter the name of the user in Customizing at in the CRM_DAM_SERVICE_USER parameter.
Recommendation
We recommend that you create a separate profile for the authorizations.
For more information about authorizations, see Customizing at .
Set up the CRM_DAM_SET_EFFECTIVE_EXPIRY, CRM_DAM_ARCHIVE_CONTENT, and CRM_DAM_UPDATE_ASSETS_RIGHTS reports as daily recurring background jobs.
For more information, see SAP Help Portal at .
The report CRM_DAM_ARCHIVE_CONTENT moves digital assets selected for archiving or deletion into another content repository, and requires no parameters.
The report CRM_DAM_SET_EFFECTIVE_EXPIRY sets digital asset versions on the basis of the activation- or expiry date of the corresponding status. Using the Take Only Today Into Account parameter, you can choose whether all digital assets or only digital assets that expire today are to be taken into account.
The report CRM_DAM_UPDATE_RIGHT_DATA must be started after midnight. For all versions of digital assets, it checks whether the legal information is still valid. If an item of legal information is no longer valid, the digital asset version gets the property Invalid Right. Equally, all versions of other digital assets that have inherited legal information from this version via an inheritance relationship are updated.
Specify the search languages in Customizing. For more information, see Customizing at .
Activate BI content:
To activate the DAM analyses, set up the DAM-specific reports as background jobs.
Before each delta upload from BI, execute program CRM_DAM_POST_BW_QUEUE, for example, via a batch job.
According to your requirements, schedule a regular delta upload of your data.
In transaction RSOR in the BI system, activate the Top n Digital Asset Downloads and My Top Downloads reports, and the BI content
To activate the extractors in CRM, use transaction RSA5.
The data for these reports is mad available via the following extractors:
0CRM_DAM_ASSET_ATTR -
0CRM_DAM_ASSET_TEXT -
0CRM_DAM_PROC_TYPE_TEXT -
0CRM_DAM_ASSET_VERSION_ATTR -
0CRM_DAM_ASSET_VERSION_TEXT -
0CRM_DAM_ASSET_USAGE_TRAN
Note
If you use a client copy for structuring your system, it may result in an update termination when creating the characteristics. For more information, refer to SAP Note 22602.
Create an SAP ERP reference system. For more information, see SAP Note 686776 and SAP Help Portal at .
Create a user assignment for the KM service user index_service and assign the DAM index service user to this user, as defined in Customizing at in the CRM_DAM_SERVICE_USER parameter.
Modify the portal proxy settings to match your system landscape. For DAM to function, the portal requires an http connection to the following servers:
Content Management Server
Web Application Server
Conversion server
For more information, see also SAP Help Portal at .
Restart the portal.
Create a new index, for example, with the name idx_dam.
Add the data source of the activated repository manager (for example, /crmdam) with the following parameters to the index and enter the name of the index in Customizing at in the SEARCH_INDICES parameter:
Schedule Max Docs: 1 (so the index is as up-to-date as possible.)
For more information, see also SAP Help Portal at .
To keep the index up-to-date, we recommend you make the following TREX settings:
Deactivate the cache for search queries. Under Cache for Search Queries, set the key queries.usecache to false.
For more information, see SAP Help Portal at .
In the parameters for the index management service, set the maximum transfer rate (Byte) to 0 (null).
For more information, see SAP Help Portal at .
Note that these settings are recommended for DAM. However, leaving the cache deactivated can result in slower visualization of DAM changes.
Create taxonomies. For more information, see Configuration.
Create MIME types. For more information, see MIME Type Administration.
In your browser settings, you have activated the Java Virtual Machine SUN VM (with a higher version than 1.3.1).
