Background documentationCreating Web Dynpro iViews  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

SAP NetWeaver Portal enables the creating and running of iViews that run on Web Dynpro technology. Web Dynpro iViews may run Web Dynpro ABAP or Web Dynpro Java. Web Dynpro Java applications being consumed may reside locally or at a remote location; and they may represent a single or multiple Web Dynpro windows and views.

Note

The View wizard has a single entry point for all the Web Dynpro Java iView creation options.

The portal uses its application integration technology to create remote Web Dynpro Java iViews – the same technology that enables the creation of SAP Application iViews (see Creating SAP Application iViews). This technology enables a variety of iView creation options:

iView Type

Description

Local Web Dynpro iViews

Integrates locally deployed Web Dynpro Java applications and offers the following creation options:

·        iView that runs a Web Dynpro Java application; runtime is Web Dynpro

·        iView that runs one or more Web Dynpro Java application (or application variant) views; runtime is Web Dynpro

·        Portal component iView that runs a Web Dynpro Java application; runtime is portal runtime (PRT)

This option is available primarily for backward compatibility.

More information: Creating Web Dynpro ABAP iViews

Note

The Web Dynpro ABAP iView should not be confused with the iViews created over SAP Applications, which are portal iViews that integrate various back-end, mostly ABAP, applications.
