Creating Local Web Dynpro Java
iViews
Use the procedure described in this section to create an iView that runs a Web Dynpro application deployed on your local portal.
The Web Dynpro Java application is deployed on the local portal.

1. Launch the iView wizard by choosing New ® iView from the context menu of the folder of your choice. For more information, see Launching the iView Wizard and General Information.
2. In the Application Technology page of the wizard, select Web Dynpro Java application - Create one or more iViews from a Web Dynpro Java application.
This is the single entry point for all Web Dynpro Java iViews.
3. In the iView Creation page, under Application Location, select Local.
4. Under iView Type, select one of the following:
¡ Web Dynpro iView per selected application – runs a single Web Dynpro application
¡ Web Dynpro iViews per selected application views – runs one or more Web Dynpro Java application (or application variant) views

The above options are the recommended ones.
¡ Portal component iView per selected application – runs a Web Dynpro Java application in portal runtime (PRT)
5. Choose Next to go to the Source Objects page, which dispays an expandable tree of Web Dynpro applications and variants.
If you select the Web Dynpro iViews per selected application views option, the Available Web Dynpro Applications, Variants, and Views page appears, which allows you to select from the views available in the application.
If you select the Portal component iView per selected application option, the next steps are as follows:
a. Enter values for the iView name and ID (a prefix and description, if desired) and choose Next.
b. Enter a namespace and application name.
You need to know these values in advance.
c. Select one of the following Web Dynpro clients:
■ Plain HTML
■ Windows Client
■ Java Client
d. You can enter application parameters in the relevant field.

For applications that were created without variants, a default variant is displayed. The variant has the same name as the application, but without the package name.
6. Navigate in the tree, via your namespace and the desired development component, to the application and variant of your choice.
7. Choose Next to display the iView Properties page, where you edit the iView name and ID, add a prefix to the ID, such as a company name, add a description, and apply the iView prefix to all other iViews.
8. Choose Next to open the Page Creation page, which enables you to immediately create a Web Dynpro page in which to put the new Web Dynpro iView.
If you choose not to create a Web Dynpro page now, deselect the Open Page wizard to create a Web Dynpro page checkbox. Choose Next to display the Summary page.
9. If you want to create a Web Dynpro page in which to place the new iViews, ensure that the checkbox is selected and choose Next to select a page template.
To create a page, do the following:

a. Select the Open page wizard to create a Web Dynpro page checkbox and choose Next.
b. Select the Web Dynpro Proxy Page template, and choose Next.
c. Enter a page name and ID (and a prefix and description, if desired), and choose Next.
d. Add at least one layout to the page, and choose Next.
10. In the Summary page, after viewing the details of the new iView, choose Finish.
11. In the last step of the wizard, you can choose to perform one of the following actions:
○ Open the new iView or page to edit its properties
○ Restart the wizard to create another object
○ Close the wizard
