Settings for Role Upload
Setting |
Description |
Upload User Mapping |
Set to upload the user assignments entered in the ABAP system (prerequisite: ABAP user and portal user are mapped to one another). If you upload roles for worksets, the user assignments are not uploaded. You can also upload the user assignments at a later time. Set Upload User Mapping and do not set Overwrite Existing Content. |
Upload included services |
When you upload roles, set this indicator to upload the services included in the roles (such as transactions) and create them as separate objects in the Portal Content Directory (PCD). Otherwise, only the role menu is uploaded, and the included services are not created in the PCD. |
Select first folder level as entry point |
In an uploaded role, the folders on the first level of the menu hierarchy are already defined as entry points for the portal navigation by default. If you do not set this indicator, no entry points are defined. |
Convert roles to worksets |
Set this indicator to convert roles from the ABAP system to worksets in the portal. |
Use workset template for navigation folder structure |
This indicator only appears if you have enabled the property Navigation folder template active in the configuration of the role upload service. Set this indicator to display uploaded roles in the detailed navigation. For more information, see Uploading Roles for Display in the Detailed Navigation. |

Target URL to be Replaced with Link to Role Content |
|
Target Folder for Roles |
Specify a target folder in the Portal Catalog in which the uploaded roles (no other objects) are stored. By default, the roles are stored in the designated default folder under the path Portal Content ® Migrated Content ® SAPComponentSystems. See also the setting PCD Migration Folder under the General Upload Settings described below.
The new target folder in the Portal Catalog must reside under the node Portal Content. Enter the prefix portal_content/ when you enter the target folder. If a value is suggested for the folder (defined under Configuring the Role Upload Service), you can overwrite it. If the folder does not yet exist, the system creates it. For more information, see Object Storage in the Portal Catalog. |
Save ID for backend roles in role name |
You can copy the ID of a role from the ABAP system to the portal. You can find the ID in the portal as part of the role name. The back-end ID can only be copied to the PCD ID with limitations since some characters, such as the colon (:), cannot be copied to the PCD. The system converts such characters to other characters in the portal. Choose one of the following options: · Role Name Only: The ID from the ABAP system is not copied to the role name. The short description of the role from the ABAP system appears as the role name in the portal. · Concatenate Role Name and Backend ID: The back-end ID is copied to the role name. The role name in the portal is a combination of the short description followed by the ID. · Concatenate Backend ID and Role Name: The back-end ID is copied to the role name. The role name in the portal is a combination of the ID followed by the short description. You can also find the back-end ID of a role in the Property Editor under the property SAP_BackendRoleID and in the Portal Catalog when the quick info text is displayed for a role. If you search for a role (under User Administration ® Identity Management) you can also enter the back-end ID as search criteria. This works if the back-end ID is part of the role name. |
2. Determine if you want to override the role upload service properties.
During the role upload you can override some of the settings made in the configuration of the role upload service. For more information about configuring the role upload service, see Configuring the Role Upload Service. The table below lists the override options.
Property Override Options During Role Upload
Upload Setting |
Notes |
Property in the Role Upload Service |
Master Language |
Some objects, such as transactions, do not have an original language. Such objects always use the master language you set here. Otherwise, if the property for the role upload service is false, the role upload service ignores the Master Language setting. |
Use always master language from upload option. |
PCD Migration Folder |
This setting is read-only. The property for the role upload service determines this setting. |
Root path for migration objects |
ID Prefix |
You can override the configuration of the role upload service with this setting. |

3. Determine if you want to overwrite existing content.
To update objects from the list that you uploaded previously, set the indicator Overwrite existing content.
4. Determine if you want to save the list of objects and these settings as a template.

This option is only available if you have maintained the Name list in the settings for the role upload service. For more information, see Configuring the Role Upload Service.
Use this indicator if you plan to upload the current object list regularly. To save the object list and settings, set the indicator Store role upload object list and settings as a template, and select from the available template names.
You can reuse this template to repeat an upload with the same objects and the same upload settings. For more information, see Selecting Objects.
You are ready to start the upload. See Performing the Upload.
