Procedure documentation Define Work Rule Template Sets Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

Work rules determine how the system can schedule an employee when calculating or recalculating a schedule. Managers add work rule values to the system for each employee at his or her location. You use this procedure to define work rule templates that contain default work rule values. Managers apply these templates to employees based on the employee’s default settings group. This makes maintaining work rules faster and more consistent.

Prerequisites

You have performed the procedure Define Default Work Rules.

Procedure

Field

A short description of the work rule template.

The system uses this for any displays or drop down lists.

Choose the default work rules from the drop down list based on your definitions from the procedure Define Default Work Rules.

Spec. Age

Choose this field to indicate that the template can and may only be assigned to an entity that is age restricted.

For example, only a template that is defined as Special Age can be assigned to an age restricted default settings group but not to an unrestricted one.

Long Description

A detailed description of the work rule template.

       3.      Save your entries and choose the record you just saved.

       4.      You see the Work Rule Values table.

       5.      Choose New Entries.

       6.      Define the default values for the work rules in the template by completing the following fields in the Work Rule Values table:

Field

Description

Use / Notes

WRule Type

The ID of the work rule you are adding to the template.

A display-only field.

Description

A short description of the work rule.

This field is automatically populated with text.

Default Value

Define a numeric value for the work rule.

If the work rule value is numeric, enter the default value for that work rule, otherwise, leave this field blank.

True?

Defines the value of the field as True or False.

If the work rule value is a true / false value, choose this field to define the default value of this work rule as True. When the field is blank and both the Default Value and Date Value fields are empty, the system assumes the work rule is a true / false value with a default value of False.

Date Value

The default value for this work rule if it is a date.

       7.      Save your entries.

Result

You have defined work rule templates that contain default work rule values and can assign them to your location. For more information, see Assign Parameter Settings to Locations.
