Procedure documentation Creating, Changing or Deleting Organizations Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

You create, change or delete organizations to establish customer-specific organizational structures.

Prerequisites

You must have selected the object type Organization in the Object type selection list .

Procedure

Proceed as follows:

...

       1.      To create a new organization, choose the Object ® Create function from the application menu, or the corresponding icon from the application toolbar.

       2.      Enter a name and a description in the Object information area for the organization to be created.

Note

If you have marked an existing organization in the navigation window in order to change it, the data for the organization is displayed and can be changed.

       3.      Choose the Sites tab page in the Dependent information subarea and then the This graphic is explained in the accompanying text icon, if you want to assign one or more sites to the organization.The system displays a dialog box containing a table of all the available sites.

       4.      Select the site(s) that you want in the dialog box that is currently displayed. To do this select either individual sites (by clicking the corresponding buttons in the first column on the left) or all sites (using the This graphic is explained in the accompanying text icon) and choose Copy.The selected sites are now displayed in the Sites tab page. Press Cancel if you do not want to select any sites.

If you want to cancel the assignment of already selected sites, select the respective site(s) in the Sites tab page by clicking the corresponding button in the first column on the left (or all subscriptions via This graphic is explained in the accompanying text)and choosing the Deassign This graphic is explained in the accompanying text icon. The sites selected in this way are then removed from the tab page with the assigned sites.

The Employees tab page displays all the employees that were assigned to the sites that have been assigned to your organizations.

       5.      In order to include your new organization at the correct place within your organizational structure, choose the Parent organization tab page in order to assign a higher level organization to the organization using the This graphic is explained in the accompanying text icon.

       6.      Select the organization that you want in the dialog box that is currently displayed. In order to do this select the organization by clicking the corresponding button in the first column on the left and choose Copy. The selected organization is now displayed in the Parent organization tab page. An organization that has already been assigned is replaced by the new assignment, because only one higher level organization can ever be defined.

Choose Cancel if you do not want to select any higher level organization.

If you no longer want your organization to be assigned to a higher level organization, for example in order to move the organization within your organizational structure, mark the higher level organizations in the corresponding tab page by clicking the button in the first column from the left and choose the Unassign This graphic is explained in the accompanying text icon. The organization is then removed from the Parent organization tab page.

The Dependent organizations tab page displays all the organizations to which your current organization has been assigned as a higher level organization.

Note

A newly created organization is always displayed at the highest level in the navigation window.To display an organization in the position in the organizational structure you want takes affect only after you have refreshed the navigation window.

       7.      Choose the Object ® Save function or the corresponding icon in the application toolbar in order to create a new organization or change an existing one.

An existing organization can be deleted using the Object ® Delete function or the corresponding icon in the application toolbar.
