Assignments
The relationship between a demand and a resource that results in measurable work.
When you create an assignment you are assigning resources either to meet:
● Demands for service based on service order items
● Demands for staffing based on cProject role
When creating concrete assignments for cProject roles, you can create assignments for either a single instance or define a recurring assignment.
Assignments can have an assignment type of:
Assignment Types |
Description |
Capacitive |
Assignment type where the effort is less than the duration. |
Concrete |
Assignment type where the effort exactly matches the duration. |
Working Time Based - Concrete |
Type of concrete assignment based on actual measurable work. |
When you create the assignment you define the assignment booking type:
Booking Type |
Description |
Used for |
Reserved |
Used to hold availability for a resource to but not finalize the assignment. For example, a resource is reserved for a project to remove availability for the resource for other project work and once the final project commitment has been received, booked to the project. This allows resource managers to plan for multiple projects without actually committing resources until a finalized project order is received. |
For assignments to cProject roles only. |
Booked |
Used by a resource planner uses to actually assign resources to a demand. |
Assignments to service order items are always created with booking type booked. |
