Function documentation Product Order Number Assignment Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

This function is used for the XML export of the product catalog. The generated XML file contains product order numbers and can, for example, be used for printing product catalogs. See Catalog Views.

By encrypting product order numbers you can determine:

·        Which product catalog and possibly which campaign a product is assigned to.

·        From which product catalog a purchase order is made.

·        Which campaign prompts the customer to make their order.

Integration

The product order number is made up of the following:

Campaign ID (optional)

Right seperator

Product number

Left seperator

Catalog ID

03

/

4711

-

53

You can determine whether the catalog ID is to be at the beginning or the end of the product order number. There are two rule groups. Determine which one you want to use in global Customizing. The definition of the rule group will effect the further Customizing of the catalog type. You receive the rules of the previously determined rule group for format selection.

Note

You cannot change the rule determined in the product catalog type, while catalogs of this catalog type are being used.

Global Customizing of the product order number cannot be changed, while there are catalog types (in existing clients), using product order number assignment.

Product order numbers are not saved in the database.

Prerequisites

In global Customizing you have determined:

·        Catalog ID item

·        Length of catalog ID

·        Length of campaign ID

Under catalog type in Customizing you have:

·        Selected the Use Product Order Number field

·        Selected the format of the product order number, according to the instructions in global Customizing

·        Determined the left and right separator

Furthermore, you can determine if the campaign ID is to be coded in the product order number or whether it is to be printed on an order card.

Note

Product order numbers can be ambiguous because of different logical systems and product types. It can happen that the same product order number can mean a material to one person and a service to others.

Product order numbers cannot be overwritten manually. You cannot differentiate between multiply placed products by looking at their product order numbers.

Decryption:

Product order numbers can only be decrypted once you have selected the corresponding field in Customizing of the transaction type.

Activities

Product order numbers are automatically generated by the CRM system during replication of the product catalog and displayed during XML export of the product catalog. You determine the composition and format of the product order number in Customizing.
