Function documentation Processing an Installed Base Structure Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

You can use the structure processing functions to make any changes to an existing structure, whereby you can move, copy, cut or remove individual components or entire branches of the structure.

Features

Structure Processing Function

Use

Cut or

delete component

Cut and transfer to clipboard or delete.

If you cut out a component, it is removed from the structure along with the subordinate objects and stored on the clipboard.

As long as installed base processing is not closed and no additional components have been transferred to the clipboard, you can reinsert the component. Otherwise the components are deleted.

Remove component

If you do not want to delete components but instead want to remove them temporarily from the structure, use the function Dismantle Component. The components remain assigned to the installed base but are no longer included in the structure; instead they hang directly under the installed base header data.

Removal

If you want to create a placeholder instead of the component, that is, if you want to create a structure gap, choose Insert. This makes it possible to remove an individual component without losing the substructures that are linked with this component.

Move using Drag & Drop

This function is only possible in the structure display or within the function change two installed bases.

Caution

Clipboard:

·         You can reinsert a component available on the clipboard as often as you want.

·         A component available on the clipboard is deleted in the following circumstances:

·         The structure is saved and the transaction is ended

·         An additional component is transferred to the clipboard using cut or copy

The times of changes to an installed base or to a component are recorded. The system enters an internal “Valid To” time for the components and an additional “Valid From” time.

This enables you to reconstruct previous statuses when changes are made to the structure or components. You can also compare the statuses for two different times. (See Displaying Two Installed Bases.)

Activities

You can select the processing functions either within the structure display or in the screen area Direct Subordinate Objects.

First select the components to be processed in the structure display and choose a processing function.

If you work with the tab pages in the screen area Direct Subordinate Objects, then first select the upper-level components in the structure display. Then select the required subordinate components from the screen area and choose a processing function.

In both cases, the functions affect the component and all subordinate components.

Note

If the screen area Direct Subordinate Objects is not displayed, choose Process Structure to call it up.

You cannot use the delete function. To delete components, use the Cut function.
