Migrating Documents 

Use

You want to migrate documents from the BI sever into KM in order to store these documents in the portal and be able to edit them there.

Note: The KM in the portal does not support any language versions. If a document on the BI server has more than one version, only one version is migrated. This version is determined as follows: Firstly, in the log-on language of the user that executes the migration, the most recent version of the document is searched for. If no document is found, the most recent version of the document (independent of the language) is migrated.

Prerequisites

The prerequisites are comprehensively described in Migration of Documents into the CM Repository.

Procedure

       1.      In Customizing, choose SAP Customizing Implementation Guide ® SAP NetWeaver  ® Business Intelligence ® BI Documents  ® Migration of Documents into the CM Repository. Or, in the portal, choose Content Provided by SAP  ®  Platform Add Ons  ®  Business Intelligence  ®  iViews  ®  BEx Document Migration.

       2.      The migration iView interface appears.

       3.      On the Migrate Documents screen, in the System Alias dropdown box, choose the system from which you want to migrate documents.

       4.      In the Source (BI Document Repository) dropdown box, choose the repository for BI documents from which you want to migrate documents.

       5.      In the Target (CM Repository) dropdown box, choose the CM repository into which you want to migrate documents.

       6.      Under Migrate, set the indicator for the document classes that you want to  migrate.

Note: We recommend that you do not migrate documents for metadata that are transported automatically with the metadata. See: Migration of Documents into the CM Repository.

       7.      Under Other Options, set the Overwrite Existing Documents indicator if you want to overwrite documents that already exist in the portal.

       8.      Choose Start Migration, to perform the migration.

The system shows that the migration process has been finished successfully.

Result

You have successfully copied BI documents into the portal and stored them there physically. The BI system is automatically modified in the system landscape. The properties of the BI documents for InfoProviders, master data and metadata now contain the Target (CM Repository).

You can now edit the migrated documents in the portal and use them in BI Web applications. However, changes are not written back to the BI system, therefore the changes are not visible in the BEx Analyzer.
