Setting Up the Mobile
Client Companion 
This process describes how you can set up the Mobile Client Companion application on your Personal Digital Assistant (PDA).
The Microsoft ActiveSync application service is running on your mobile client. This application service takes care of the synchronization activities between the mobile client and the Mobile Client Companion. For synchronization of mobile client data, ensure that the Companion Object option is selected under Sync Options of the Microsoft ActiveSync application service.

The eMFSyncServer.exe is located at the following path on your mobile client …/SAP/Mobile/Companion/Bin folder.

1. Activate the initial download.
Choose the Initial Download checkbox on the Mobile Client Companion/Companion Synchronization tile set. This generates all the metadata, which consists of tables and business object structures, on your PDA. When you trigger an initial download, the date fields default to the current date.
2. Download the master data.
Choose the Master Data checkbox to download all the data to the PDA. This will download all the required records from the user database on your mobile client.

· The number of products downloaded to the PDA is limited because the volume of data is large.
· You can filter the products that are downloaded to the PDA, using a User Exit UEGetProductsForDownload is provided in the Mobile Application Studio, where you can maintain the criteria such as product/partner ranges (PPRs) or the product hierarchy.
3. Trigger synchronization.
Choose the Synchronize pushbutton.
If you encounter any problems during synchronization or you find inconsistencies in the data that you have downloaded, then you can choose the Re-Sync checkbox to re-trigger the synchronization process. This function overwrites all the data that is present on the PDA.
