Product Catalog Variants
A catalog variant determines the specification of a catalog regarding:
· Language
· Currency
· The products it contains
· Price control data
Defining several catalog variants allows you to generate catalogs in several languages, with different prices, and different product contents, on the basis of the same set of data.
You have created a catalog header. See: Creating Catalog Headers.
You can only create catalog items when you have created at least one catalog variant (this does not apply to purchasing catalogs).
You determine which products from the catalog are admissible for these variants using the distribution chains created in the catalog variants (this does not apply to purchasing catalogs). You can only add products to the catalog that correspond to at least one variant. For example, when a catalog variant is published, only products that belong to the distribution chain of the variant are displayed. The same applies when performing an XML export and when transferring product hierarchies. See: Transferring Product Hierarchies.
