Implementation Considerations

Portal content is developed in order to give the user access to certain information. Each portal has its own content, which is designed to provide the information that is relevant for a particular company. By assigning content to roles and roles to users, you define the contents available to your users.

Prerequisites

Before you can set up a role or workset hierarchy with content objects, all the objects that you want to insert into the role or workset as content objects must be available in the portal.

You must provide the following objects in the Portal Catalog:

·        Roles

·        Worksets

·        Pages

·        iViews

·        iView and page templates

Creating a role or workset mainly involves creating folder hierarchies and adding the objects mentioned above to them.

To fill the portal with content, you can also import business packages with preconfigured content into the portal from the iViewStudio. For more information read Structure linkMigrating and Importing of EP 5.0 Content Objects.

Features

You can assign content objects to roles and worksets as follows:

·        as a Structure linkcopy. For more information see Adding Objects as a Copy.

·        as a Structure linkdelta link. For more information see Adding Objects as a Delta Link.

Objects contained in roles and worksets as linked objects (delta link or copy) can be changed within the roles and worksets. For more information see Changing Linked Objects in Roles and Worksets.

Integration

You can assign the following objects to a role:

...

·        Roles (only as a delta link, not as a copy)

·        Worksets

·        iViews

·        Pages

·        Templates for iViews and pages

You can assign the following objects to a workset:

·        Worksets

·        iViews

·        Pages

·        Templates for iViews and pages
