Functions of the Web Application Designer Menu
Bar 
From the menu bar in the Web Application Designer, you access all of the functions that you need to create or edit a Web template. For more information about Web Application design and the structure and functions of the Web Application Designer, see:

The BEx Web Application Designer
From Web Template to Web Application
Choose Web Template ® New, if you want to create a new Web template that you can then publish as a Web application on an Internet browser.

This
function takes you to the
BEx Open
Dialog. From here you can
open a Web template in various views to edit it or publish it in the Web
browser. You can also access
the Open… function by clicking
on the
Open…
icon on the Web
Application Designer toolbar.
You use this function to close the Web template.
You use this function to delete Web templates that are already saved.
You use this function to save the changes that you have made to an existing Web template.
This
function takes you to the
BEx Save
Dialog where you can
save your Web template in your favorites or roles. You can also access the Save and Save As… functions by clicking on the
icon on the Web Application Designer
toolbar.
You use this function to import back into the Web Application Designer a Web template that you have edited with an external HTML editor. See also Editing the Web Templates Further.
You use this function to export to a file system of your choice a Web template that you want to edit with an external HTML editor. See also Editing the Web Templates Further.
You use this function to download a Web template directly from the server without opening it in the Web Application Designer. See also Editing the Web Templates Further.
You use this function to upload to the server directly a Web template that you have edited with an external HTML editor. See also Editing the Web Templates Further.
You use this
function to publish your Web template on the Web and thereby create a Web
application. You can also call the function from
Execute in the Browser on the Web
Application Designer toolbar. See also Creating Web
Applications with the BEx Web Application Designer.
You use this function to reset the properties that you have set for a Web template in the Properties window on the Web Item tab page. This reassigns the default settings to the Web template. See Web Template Properties.
You use this
function to create, change, and display documents for the Web template. See

You use this function to leave the Web Application Designer.
You use this
function to delete a highlighted Web item or HTML element from the Web
template. You can also call the function from
Delete Web Item on the Web Application
Designer toolbar.
You use this
function to copy individual Web items or entire HTML tables to which you have
added Web items so that you can, for example, include them in another Web
template. You can also access this function by clicking on the
(Copy) icon on the Web Application Designer
toolbar.
You use this
function to paste into a Web template any Web items or HTML elements that you
have copied. You can also call the function from
Paste on the Web Application Designer
toolbar.

You use this
function to publish a Web template in a role so that you can integrate the Web
template into a Portal, for example, at a later stage. See also

With this
function, you call the
Save Dialog that
includes various views of an Enterprise Portal in which a Web template can be
saved. Depending on the view (My
Portfolio, CM Repository View, Collaboration Room, Portal Content, Portal
Roles), either iViews in the Portal or links in Knowledge Management are
generated. See also

With this
function you can either save the Web template as an iView in a role or export
it as an iView file for use in the iView studio. See also

This
function starts the BEx Broadcaster, with which you can precalculate and
distribute queries and Web applications. See also

BEx Web Applications.
You use this function to copy the URL of the Web template to the clipboard so that you can call it in a Web browser or send it as an e-mail, for example. You have to save the Web template before you can do this.
You use this
function to insert HTML tables into your Web template. If you have already
inserted an HTML table into your Web template and want to edit this table, you
have several options under Insert
® Table, such as, Insert Row, Insert Column, Delete Cell, and
so on. You can also call this function by clicking on the
Table icon on the Web Application
Designer toolbar. See also Layout Design of Web

You use this function to insert images into your Web template, for example, company logos. See also Layout Design of Web Templates and Storing Stylesheets and Symbols.
You use this option to select a print stylesheet to form the basis of a printout for your Web application. See also Print Stylesheets.
You use this function to call the Web application wizard. The Web application wizard helps you to create a Web application simply and easily by taking you step by step through the process. See also Creating Web Applications with the Web Application Wizard.
You use this function to call the BEx Query Designer to create or change a query. See also Query Design: BEx Query Designer
With this
function, you can generate and save a new query view by navigating in an
existing query or in an existing query view. The selected query or the
selected query view is automatically embedded in the standard Web template for
ad-hoc analysis. See

You use this function to determine and save the general settings for all Web templates and Web applications that you create. You can select the stylesheet that you want to use as the basis for your Web applications and determine the path for the Web browser or the HTML editor. See also Determining Settings.
You use this function to show or hide the borders of an HTML table during the design process. See also Layout Design of Web Templates.
You use this function to display the HTML tags in the layout view. See also Layout Design of Web Templates.
You use the options under View to change the appearance of the Web Application Designer.
Choose View ® Toolbar to show or hide the toolbar.
Choose View ® Status Bar to show or hide the status bar in the bottom margin of the Web Application Designer.
Choose View ® Web Items to display the Web Items window again if you closed it earlier. See also BEx Web Application Designer and Web Items.
If you choose View ® Properties, you can display the Properties window again if you closed it earlier. See BEx Web Application Designer.
You use this function to overlap several Web templates that you have open in the Web template window. See BEx Web Application Designer.
You use this function to arrange several Web templates that you have open next to one another in the Web template window.
You use this function to arrange several Web templates that you have open below one another in the Web template window.
You use this function to arrange the Web template symbols if you have previously minimized the Web template window.

You use this function to reach the context sensitive help in the online documentation.
From Help ® Info… you see the version of the Web Application Designer with the number of the support package. You can quote this information to SAP if you need to send any problem messages.
