Using the External-Facing Portal
The portal runtime environment provides users with a single point of access to information, applications and services that are provided by the organization and relevant to both internal and public users. The portal desktop is customizable, enabling users to personalize the look and feel of the portal desktop and its content according to their personal preferences and needs.
This IT process describes the general steps users perform in an external-facing portal.
● Portal administrators have performed the IT process steps described in Configuring the External-Facing Portal, Creating External-Facing Portal Content, and Maintaining the External-Facing Portal.

1. Anonymous users register with the portal.
This step is optional. Users can also work with the portal as anonymous users without registering.
2. Registered users log on to the portal.
This step is optional, and only for users who have already registered in Step 1. Users can also work with the portal as anonymous users without registering.
3. Anonymous and registered users work with the portal.
Anonymous and registered users can view content and work with applications for which they have been given permission.
