Adjusting Stocks

Use

You use dip readings received from business locations to determine the current level of bulk fuel stocks held at those locations. If there is a difference between the stock level received and the relative stock level, which the system determines from goods movements to and from the storage location, you can save a stock adjustment to correct current stock levels in Inventory Management.

Creation of Material Documents from Meter Readings

Prerequisites

In Customizing for the Industry Solution Oil & Gas (Downstream), you must:

Define a calculation method for the base quantity used to determine whether differences between actual and relative stock are within tolerance. SAP delivers a method that calculates the last 30 days of meter readings sales flow.

Assign this method in the relevant Processing Profile.

Specify warning and error tolerances for gains and losses in the Processing Profile.

You can also define material-specific tolerances within the processing profile. For more information, see Defining Material-Specific Processing Defaults.

Procedure

Choose Logistics ® Sales and Distribution ® Service Station Retailing ® Bulk material handling ® Dip readings ® Post stock correction.

The Fuels stock control: Inventory maintenance screen appears.

Enter selection parameters. You can specify:

Locations

Time range

Type of dip reading

Display variant

Choose Execute.

An overview of dip readings that were different from the relative stock level at the time that they were received appears. You can display:

A status indicator. This has three possible colors:

Green indicates that the difference is less than the warning tolerance

Yellow indicates that the difference is greater than the warning tolerance but less than the error tolerance

Red indicates that the difference is greater than the error tolerance

Stock level data, including the:

Physical stock level (dip reading)
Book stock level at the time the dip reading was received
Current book stock level
Difference between the physical stock level (dip reading) and the current book stock level
Percentage deviation of physical stock level (dip reading) from the current book stock level

Deviation = 100 * (difference / tolerance quantity).

The tolerance quantity is calculated as defined in the method that you specify in the Base qty. calc. field of the processing profile.

Double-click the date field for a dip reading or use the tree on the left of the screen to navigate to an individual document and double-click the document icon.

The Fuels stock control: Maintenance screen appears. The difference quantity is displayed for each material. This is the proposed value for stock adjustment. You can change the value.

Save your settings. If there are no errors, a message confirms that stock records have been corrected. If there were errors, you can navigate directly to the application log for more details.
