Object documentation Business Location  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Definition

You create a business location to register a physical location in which your company has some kind of economic interest. Examples of business locations are:

·        Service station

·        Depot

·        Investment site

·        Retail store

Use

Business location master data is a prerequisite for location management functionality in the Industry Solution Oil & Gas (Downstream). Each business location is a discrete unit, not limited to one specific business view. The structure of the business location master record allows you to link each location to objects in other standard and Industry Solution Oil & Gas (Downstream) applications, and configure processing and screen content to reflect the nature of the business processes carried out at the location.

Structure

As business locations vary in terms of function, business, ownership and in the way they are handled in different companies, SSR provides flexibility of processing options and Screen Configuration for Business Location Master Data.

You can enter, maintain and display data at two levels:

·        At the general level, you assign a business location type to the location and maintain data (for example, address) that does not relate to a specific type of business. For more information, see Business Location Type and Master Data at the Business Location Type Level.

·        By assigning a business type to the location, you can add business-specific data. For more information, see Retail Network Business Type

Integration

You can use a range of standard services in the SAP system to define and maintain the business location. These include classification, the document management system, text element processing, change document processing and central address management.

To support the use of functionality provided by other SAP applications, you can link the business location to:

·        Other objects within your system. These links are supported by the Object Links facility.

·        Business partners of your company who transact business with the location. The links between business locations and business partners are supported by the Partner Roles facility.

·        A site in the SAP Retail system. For more information, see Linking Business Locations to Sites in SAP Retail.

·        Sales meters. For more information, see Assigning Meters to Business Locations.

·        Storage objects. For more information, see Creating Storage Object Characteristics for Business Locations.
