Use

Prepacks and assortments are materials that consist of several components and are structured as sales BOMs. The BOM contains various components. They are sold together as one product.

Example

A suit (suit coat, vest, trousers) should be sold for a total price. The components (suit coat, vest, trousers) can also be sold individually with a single price. You enter a material in the customer material that describes the BOM (suit). The single components (suit coat, vest, trousers) are displayed as sub-items.

Features

If you enter the number of a sales-relevant material BOM in the order processing, the system displays the material described by the BOM as the main item. The individual components are displayed as sub-items. During Sales, the BOM processing can be carried out in two ways. After you have entered a BOM in a sales order, the system can carry out pricing, inventory management and delivery processing at the following levels:

The item category group you have entered for the relevant materials in the material master record determines which processing type the system uses (at main item or component level). To map material BOMs with AFS-specific data, prepacks and assortments are available. The prepack processing is carried out at main item level, the assortment processing is carried out at component level.

Prepacks and Assortments

The AFS-specific data structure (material grids and categories) has been integrated in the material BOM for prepacks and assortments. This enables you to use AFS materials at the different levels of a BOM. Certain combinations of AFS and standard materials are also possible. You can assign R/3 standard components to an AFS material. However, you cannot subordinate AFS components to an R/3 standard material. You can also include or exclude certain categories from the BOM.

Further AFS-specific information on BOMs can be found in production planning and control.
