Use

Use

An AFS term for sales BOMs in which at least one component material contains a material grid. Assortments are not planned as units but based on their single components. They have no sales price. The price results from the addition of the individual component prices. The assortment processing (pricing, inventory management and delivery processing) is carried out at component level. The assortment is used as input help in the sales order. Requirements must be created only for the component items in the system.

Processing at Component Level

So that the pricing, inventory management and delivery processing can be carried out at component level you must enter LUMF in the field item category group of the screen Sales 2 in the respective material master record. In this case only the components are delivery-relevant and the header items are not delivery-relevant. During the processing the system automatically creates a delivery group. Here the last delivery date of all components within this group is the actual delivery date for the entire delivery group.

For example, you can use assortments for suits. The components of a suit (suit coat, trousers and vest) should be offered together, but pricing, inventory management and delivery processing should be carried out at component level. In this case the assortment serves as an input help in the sales order during the sale of the suit. Often assortments consist of components that are usually sold individually. Most assortments are not put together until a customer requests this.

Features

Besides the processing at component level the special feature of the assortment is that the header material is mostly an input help. Generally, different variants of the header material are possible (with or without category or master grid). You can use one or several components. You can use both standard and AFS materials as components. Note that you cannot subordinate AFS components to a standard material. An integration of categories is possible.
