Component documentationResource Planning Table

You can use the resource planning table to implement an interactive detailed scheduling of resources and orders of Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS).

The resource planning table represents an alternative to the detailed scheduling board. In contrast to the detailed scheduling board, which is a graphical tool, the resource planning table provides you with the information on the capacity utilization of resources in tabular form.

You can use the resource planning table to plan interactively in order to solve problems such as sequencing, overload, or scheduling problems on resources. For this purpose, a clipboard function is available to assist you in manually rescheduling the sequence of operations, plus various planning functions and heuristics.

You can use the resource planning table above all for the following planning tasks:

  • Sequencing

  • Backlog rescheduling

  • Capacity leveling

You invoke the resource planning table from the SAP Easy Access screen under Start of the navigation path Advanced Planning and Optimization Next navigation step Production Planning Next navigation step Interactive Production Planning Next navigation step Detailed Scheduling Next navigation step Resource Planning Table End of the navigation path.

Integration

The following applications are integrated in the resource planning table:

  • Alert Monitor

You can call up the Alert Monitor in the resource planning table at any time to display scheduling problems.

  • Plan monitor

You can invoke the plan monitor in the resource planning board to evaluate the planning quality according to user-defined criteria and key figures.

  • Optimization

To optimize the planning, you can call up the optimization function in the navigation area in the resource pool.

Features

The resource planning table is divided into the following screen areas:

  • Navigation area on the left side

  • Work area with the resource data on the right-hand side

You can show and hide the individual screen areas as desired.

Navigation Area

In the navigation area, the following buttons are available enabling you to invoke the various objects:

  • Resources

From the list of resources displayed, you can select one whose details are then displayed in the work area. The chosen resource is marked with the quick info Displayed and Active.

  • Clipboard

You can copy operations into the clipboard and change their sequence manually. You can then schedule the changed list of operations on the resource. To process the operation list, you can enlarge the navigation area so that all necessary columns are available.

  • Heuristics

The heuristics from the heuristic profile with which you invoked the resource planning table are displayed. You can start a heuristic for the objects selected in the work area with the quick info Execute, directly before the heuristic. You can start heuristics for a resource, for the operations of a period, or for certain operations in the operation list.

  • Changed Objects

You get a list of all objects that have been changed during the last planning/scheduling step: resources, operations, products, or orders.

    Note Note

You do not see any deleted objects in the list.

    End of the note.
Work Area

In the work area, the information on the active resource is displayed. The work area is subdivided into three parts:

  • Header data

This chart shows you the key data on the selected resource.

  • Periodic view

This chart shows you information such as the available capacity and utilization of the selected resource in the display period.

  • Operation list

You see the operations and other information (such as non-working time, blocks) for the period you selected in the periodic view. You can process the operations with the various planning functions.

Pick&Drop Function

In the resource planning table, not only can you move operations and activities by Drag&Drop, you can also use the Pick&Drop function to move operations and activities between the individual charts without using the mouse (see Scheduling or Rescheduling Operations with Pick&Drop).

Constraints

  • You cannot schedule bucket or mixed resources because you can only display the time-continuous portion in the resource planning table.

  • You can only schedule multiresources to a limited extent because, here too, you can only display the temporal dimension and you cannot see from the resource planning table how much capacity is still free at a certain point in time.

  • You cannot display pegging relationships.

  • The Resource Planning Table is not intended to handle or to be used for business functions such as:

    • Planning of multiresources

    • Planning of bucket resources

    • Displaying network information (pegging, relationships)

  • The function can be called only from those transactions that call the Receipts View screen, which includes the transactions:

    • /SAPAPO/RRP4 (Receipts View)

    • /SAPAPO/RRP7 (Mass Conversion/Transfer of Planned Receipts in Active Planning Version)

    • /SAPAPO/SNP2PPDS (Conversion of SNP Orders into PP/DS Orders)

    • /SAPAPO/CDPS0 (DPS Variable View) and other related transactions

    • /SAPAPO/RPT (Product Planning Table)
