Use

Before it is able to create a new query, the system needs information that enables it to generate the corresponding report. The following information is required:

Prerequisites

You are in the initial screen of the Queries component.

Procedure

Proceed as follows to use the Query Painter to create a basic list:

  1. Use the Switch User Group Este gráfico es explicado en el texto respectivo function to select the user group, to which you want the new query to belong.
  2. Specify a name for the query.
  3. Nota

Query names are a maximum of 14 characters in length. The name of the query must be unique, that is there must not be a query with this name in the user group already.

  4. Choose the Create Este gráfico es explicado en el texto respectivo function.
  5. A list of InfoSets belonging to the user group is displayed.

  6. Select the InfoSet appropriate for your query and click on Este gráfico es explicado en el texto respectivo.
  7. You are taken to the Create Query: Title, Format screen.

To find out how to create InfoSets, see Creating and Changing InfoSets.

    Nota

If there are a lot of InfoSets with many fields assigned to one user group, use the search function to find the InfoSet you need. You can search for any term within the selected InfoSets. The result is a list of all the InfoSets and fields that match the search criterion.

  8. Type the appropriate information into the dialog fields.
  9. Choose Settings ® Settings to specify that you want to use the Query Painter to define the basic list.
  10. In the Settings dialog box, activate the Graphical Query Painter check box and click on Este gráfico es explicado en el texto respectivo.
  11. The Settings dialog box closes.

  12. Click on the Basic List pushbutton to open the Query Painter. You can select the fields you want from the Query Painter directly,.

Alternatively, choose Next Screen Este gráfico es explicado en el texto respectivo, and choose the fields that you want to use to build your query before you start the Query Painter. This procedure is useful if you want to define local fields.

Nota

Defining local fields allows you to generate new information from the fields in an InfoSet, without having to include an additional field.
