Prerequisites

Procedure

  1. In the Structure linkProduct Safety menu, choose Data transfer ® Phrases.
  2. The Import Phrases: Parameters screen appears.

  3. If you have defined an exchange profile in Customizing for Product Safety, enter the key for the exchange profile and choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.
  4. The settings in the exchange profile are transferred.

    Note

    If you want to work with engineering change management, you must enter the change number in the exchange profile.

  5. Make sure that the path and file name for the transfer file and directory on the application server have been entered in the File with path field.
  6. Example

    /USR/SAP/SH1/SYS/GLOBAL/PHRASE.DAT

  7. Set the Phrase set assignmts indicator if you have specified the assignments of phrases to the corresponding phrase sets in the transfer file, and want to import them.

Note

Any assignments you want to make later must be done manually.

  1. Choose Language selection and check whether you want to import the phrase texts in all languages selected.

Note

You define the languages for language selection in the IMG activity Specify Language Selection.

  1. Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.
  2. The SAP System checks the transfer file and determines the phrases to be created or changed.

  3. Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text. Select the log for your transfer file, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text (Goto ® Display messages) and check any error messages there.
  4. Note

    To correct the transfer file, choose Data transfer ® Download file in the Structure linkProduct Safety menu. Make the changes in an ASCII editor and then choose Data transfer ® Upload file.

  5. On the initial screen for phrase import, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.
  6. A dialog box appears in which you can set the start date. After you have saved your data, the SAP System starts the data transfer for the start date specified.

    Note

    To check the procedure, choose Data transfer ® Check transfer ® Phrases in the Structure linkProduct Safety menu.

  7. On the initial screen for phrase import, choose Direct input to display the log for the database update.

Then choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text, select the log for your transfer file, and choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Job log. The system generates a list of all messages for the background job.

Evaluate the messages and make the necessary corrections.

Result

The results of the import depend on the your transfer parameters (see Phrase Import).

After the import, you can check phrases in phrase management (see Structure linkPhrase Editing).
